Here he goes again....ding ding the stupid question bell a ringin'
I have been using shoebox tech to learn and was wondering;
If you were to break up your post flush substrate re hydrate and add some new hydrated CV would it colonize and produce a new flush with same genetics?
seems like someone would have tried it at some point.

IMO the best course is to just rehydrate until they are no longer producing and toss em in the compost. Feels like it'd be contamination city and not good to have in the house.

I am doing just that I just rehydrated a box for round 3 just to see how it does.
I did take a 3 inch square with 2 little guys on it to put in a jar for giggles and they and both parent tub and kids are fine so far. (filled hole with extra pasteurized substrate)

Ya, how tf do people avoid them with no liners.
I spread that shit out as far as possible and it still inevitably shrinks and gets side boners.

Lots and lots of compression along the sides and surface. I still prefer liners though. They make clean up and harvesting easier for me.

i’ve had pretty good success avoiding side pins with no liners. i press the FUCK out of my sub & top layer with a trowel/flat object. a good culture & pristine surface conditions really help, though. i hate fucking with liners but i do see where they can be helpful for harvest & clean up

Yeah level surface with good conditions is key. But then some cultures just pin all over no matter what.

Yeah always had a level and compressed surface, I gave up with that shizz.
Anyway OMFG. I always avoided shroom subreddits like the plague. So many people on here have mentioned how bad it is on there.
I've started spending a lot of time on Shroomery again recently, so when there wasn't many post updates I decided to go check out Reddit.
I didn't realise just how FUCKING AWFUL it is on there. Sooooo much misinformation, and everyone believes it! You'll have someone post a question, and have 4 or 5 people posting the SAME wrong answer!
I jump in trying to be helpful and educate, and I get told everything I'm writing is bullshit
Don't know why I'm letting these idiots bother me.

yeah, the compression only goes so far. some mushroom cultures don’t give a fuck lol but some are respectful about it
i tried telling people that fanning didn’t help anything & got eaten alive. it’s such an echo chamber it’s not even funny

The weirdest part of Reddit and Facebook for me is how shroomery has this widespread reputation as being nothing but closed minded assholes.

Yeah, I answered 1 question and got told by several people just how wrong I was and I should be ashamed for telling somebody that you don't have to case APE, that a top layer works perfectly. FUCK every single last one of them. I don't get that either, but if they come here with their bullshit like it's gospel they will get told off pretty quickly.

i always thought this was hilarious too, everyone was so nice & helpful to me here when i first started. the shroomery is all about making shit more accessible & reliable & i always found it so weird that reddit/facebook are so opposed to using actual technique? like you can’t even suggest that there are better methods, you get picked apart. here you just need to back your claims up with pics & details, it’s not hard lol.
i saw another TC posting on reddit back when the shroomery was down, i think it was madseason? & his post had like 20+ downvotes. all for saying you don’t need to fan or some shit. it’s always the littlest things that set those places off. & they wonder why tubs mold? i told one poster their broke boi tek jar looked bacterial & they flipped. they kept swearing up & down i didn’t know shit, were bragging about the upcoming canopy. dude posted one pic of a half colonized tub in like 7 different sub reddits, but weeks later the canopy pics mysteriously didn’t follow… hmm…
im so glad the shroomery exists lol

Good . All those whiny little piss babies come over here when their projects get fucked up and then get butt-hurt when we explain to them that the "solid" advice they received fucked them. People on here are generally pretty nice to new posters until they start spreading misinformation, then act like cunts when they get called out on it. Denying people validation make us assholes apparently. Their half-baked ideas and fail-ridden fuckery gets shot down and the tears start flying. Some people are just immune to good, free advice. Fuck em.
I like being part of a community that takes pride in good results and doing things correctly and caring about the quality of information being passed around. I bet they pass around participation trophies on reddit.

Seems like most use the 100m agar dishes, which is what my last 500 pack was… I was debating on trying slightly smaller dishes, maby like 70mm? Thoughts?
What are your thoughts on the sectored dishes? I’m trying to move onto using LC as my main inoculation method.

i have 90mm & 70mm glass petris & i much prefer the 70mm for most occasions. are 100mm plates that commonly used? i always assumed it was ~70mm plates but it’s hard to tell in pics
