you can definitely mist to keep up surface conditions if it gets too dry, which you should be doing anyways. i think some people will bottom water their subs if the flush looks like it’s coming in really heavy but i don’t bottom water much so i can’t really give direct advice. it’s probably best to just make sure your coir is at a good field capacity from the get go. i wouldn’t spawn them on the dry side

Yup, or reduce air exchange if tubs dries out too fast

This is very interesting, care to share your findings with regards to the relationship?

I feel like this is genetics dependent. But with my golden teacher, I kept moving my spawn ratio weaker and weaker... settling on 2.75 actual quarts of birdseed to 700g of coir. When I went weaker than that... I struggled to get a strong pinset from my isolate. Then I ran tubs with no top layer, a 1/4" (just covered) 3/4" and 1.5" - I found the 1/4" top layer applied at spawn to consistently trigger a strong even pinset compared to the others. I also like the "just covered" because I can get an even layer by using the birdseed as an indicator. Slow sprinkle until I can't see it.

I actually am thinking of running less spawn, because my pinsets are almost too tight. Making smaller fruit.

The real test would be running three spawn ratios... then three top layer variations on each of those.

My main shock was how much these tweaks affected the yield. Lots.

This is interesting, I think the amount of sub used may be limiting the fruit size potential due to an insufficient water reserve?

I thought that too.... but this is the first flush... the sub is heavy with 4.5q's of water, not counting the water in the spawn. I've had large second flushes on quite light subs... so go figure.

Honestly, I'm battling heat. I'll not pay attention for a day and come back to a sub that registers 79f with my laser thermometer. That makes some flushes wonky right there.

I need some advice on my Pinset coming in on this tub of Hillbilly. This is my 3rd grow and I have been studying the posts on these forums nonstop to try and get it right, but I’m nervous about these caps on my pins looking a little white.

Info: The spawn to coir/verm is approx 1:5 with 2 of the quarts of sub used as pseudo-casing p9 style. Spawned in a 15qt sterilite inside a 64qt ez-dial/Pasty mono.

It appears I found my own answer, but that was a tough one to find. FB group had the answer and I confirmed on a post where Pasty called it “remnants of the universal veil”. Phew. Panic over.

PE with 1/2 inch of casing. Should I let it ride or add more casing?

Thanks in advance!

I’d hit it again. Looks like it’s not ready to knot up yet.

Sounds like a plan!

Thanks a lot Faht and Aka! I really want to get some decent PE grows before moving on to other cultures.

(I know I should use a liner) making some Faht locks today or tomorrow!

Appreciate the help!!!

@catslovehousemusic: honestly idk if any of them would make good g2g candidates, i see a lot of subtle signs of bacteria. give ‘em a shake & see how they recover again. if i used any of them, i’d personally say the jar on the right in the first pic

@wildcat: def not myc lol

So I have multiple LC recipes in my notebook, but don’t have a step by step guide to make it. Any help there?

Figure i’ll do LC rather than G2G as my agar game has been on point for awhile, and I fudged G2G twice. I just want to nice tek to follow, and read the comments.
