Freaking out can be good. Not recreationally good but it serves a purpose.
It's all shamanistic and stuff but something along the lines of experiencing death like states helps you overcome fear of dying etc.
Obviously not for everyone and every situation but someone with terminal illness may benefit greatly.

Cake inside a Martha. Corner of the cake. A yeti x stargazer from an agar wedge.
Maybe 7 out of 20 cakes have this appearance.

How did you inoculate a cake with agar? LI? I've never heard of that method before

I use a lid with a filter patch and drop an agar wedge right on the top of the bare brf. It colonized a little slow, next time will cut the wedge up and put it at different spots
I have pp5 leftover food containers I inoculated with wedges that are also doing very well colonizing. About 1.5 pints goes into the food containers.

Question on some of the big jars I have seen on posts.
I have several large pickle jars 1 gallon size that I used for moonshine storage.
I want to repurpose 1 for a fun display grow jar.
I do see quite a few posts on large jars but most are quite old and about spawning not using for a tub to display grow.
The question, would it be better to;
set up with little or no air transfer like a terrarium? with filter and air transfer?
Ideas/experience?
Maybe 1 of each...
I remember making a few terrariums when I was a kid but do not remember how they did, most likely never looked after the first week and Mom dumped it in the trash.
Kinda like my buddy who gave away the family dog and it took the kids over 2 weeks to notice....

I've recently been growing very clean healthy monos, with an isolate of Golden Teacher. Two things surprised me:
1) Varying the thickness of my coir top layer significantly effected the pinset. Not just delaying it. I had to find a thickness that worked with my strain and spawn ratio.
2) My shelf of monos builds heat, making the monos that are in the center of the shelf (surrounded by other warm monos) 4 degrees warmer than the outer monos. And a substrate that is 72f is delayed by many days compared to a substrate at 76f. I have to keep the room much cooler than I initially thought, because of this "micro climate" created by my closely stacked monos.

I did a jar grow that I quite enjoyed. I just propped the top open a bit for fae after colonization. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26878748 Couple of old pix.

Jar grows can be pretty good, there was a famous poster who swore to them I think he's passed on now.

Ive had the idea to like, just split a jar into another jar, and case with coir. For cubes it seems to work exceptionally well when they have lots of air above them, they will fruit in a okay to harvest manner.
But its still finicky and annoying to harvest fruits from jars, if one goes bulk I can see that becoming old fast.

This jar gave 10-9 grams dried, and it wasn't even full

I definitely have a reaction to exposed grains.
That tub looks really good though, level and hydration seems on point.
Ok grow question I have some PE spawning, they are just general PE spores nothing fancy just random internet spore purchase.
So is there a good thread for information on PE grows that points out some differences that need to be followed?

PE just likes water in the sub (still field capacity tho) & requires a casing/top layer to avoid blobs. you can case at 100% or you can add a thick top layer of coir at spawn, like 1.5”-2” & then compress the fuck out of it. works like a charm & is easier than adding a true casing imo. other than that it’s mostly just a cube that takes a bit longer to fruit. others might have some more tips but that’s how i run em

Good info to know, if the tub does end up to dry even with extra layer, can moisture be added?
