Is this cake contaminated? It has a weird looking texture.. I thought it was trich at first, but it hasn't spread or changed, and the color has stayed white.. I noticed it at the same time I fist saw pinning, so I decided to keep a close eye on it... the flush has come in just fine, but idk if I should chuck it before the 2nd flush.

Have you possibly considered dehydration of the cake? IME I've had similar looking cakes that were simply dehydrated. After another dunk after first flush they were fine. Here's an old pic of mine. Does it look similar to what you're experiencing?

Yes... that was my first thought, but I kinda ruled it out because I had just done a 24 hour dunk on most of my cakes... and I'm 99.9% sure that it got dunked.. (that last .1% is just me covering my ass, because mistakes happen.. but I'm almost positive that It got dunked.)
When the pins first started, they were kinda "bunched up" so I didn't think they'd grow very big.. and they had a little bit of "white powdery shit" on them that came right off when touched..
....The seeds of doubt have been planted... now I'm wondering if somehow I got mixed up and this wasn't one that got dunked...
Anybody think it's contaminated, or is it more likely that I mixed up which cake it was and it wasn't dunked/got dried out?

Ah I feel you man. Try not to worry too much. If you want, you can always isolate the cake from the rest in a mini terrarium made out of a container big enough. I used to use the bottoms of water gallons. Cut 'em in half, poke some holes in the bottom, layer some damp perlite and use a standing ziplock bag or something of the like as a lid. May give you peace of mind at least.

Yeah. That's not a bad idea... I'm about to add a new batch of cakes to my tub, and it would be pretty shitty if the one cake started a chain reaction. Can't hurt to play it safe and isolate it.

I make extra deep pour soft agar plates with 25mm tall petris... and I like to keep dust off of them to keep them clean. But I am suspicious that with all of that biological growth(it colonizes the agar throughout), I can possibly stifle its growth in a bag... so I made shoeboxes with parafilm vents instead.

Couldn't hurt! Here's a pic of my iso's from awhile back. They come in handy when the doubt sets in, haha.

Still fruited alright. Best of luck, friend.

I like the milk jug idea... quick, simple, plus I've got a crap-load of extra perlite.

Those cakes are fine, just some light bruising from drying out.

Lol yes it was.
If you’re wondering if something is mold for more than a day, it’s not. It moves real quick.

It's true for some molds, but definitely not all. I've had all kinds of molds, including purple ones, move pretty slowly. Just because it's slow doesn't mean you're not fucked.

For a few months I did transfers of each strain to lme and to plates with added nutritional yeast. Consistently the plates with nutritional yeast had much more vigorous growth, both in speed , rhizomorphic expression and overall thickness of the mycelium. They just looked healthier overall. I deleted all my pics a few times over so I don’t have any good comparison photos but itnwas good enough that I use nutritional yeast in all my plates with the exception of germination plates as The yeast specks make it really hard to identify spores under microscopy.

Nutritional yeast is inactive I believe through heating procedures but also when you autoclave.
I tried it in LC and while I got a very dense culture I had too much sediment

And Mr blue shrooms, you have me guessing every MYA recipe I've ever seen. Idk if I've ever seen a write up from a TC with extract used.
I mean yeast should be able to form endospores right?
Pretty sure I samples a agar plate that had yeast added to it and it was budding lol... Uhhhh?!
Input on this would be great.
I could see it maybe being okay. But say after adding to grain, then a G2G and then to heavily supped bulk ... Idk. Seems problematic.
The yeas tused in agar is suppose to be nutritional/brewers yeast. Its been baked and killed already. The hippy popcorn type

I have very high success % with agar, and want to switch to primarily LC. Any teks youd suggest? I’ve been reading about LC and just don’t quite feel comfortable yet.

Yeah sslc or blender/blender less LI are great.
