That jar is done, super bacterial. The one on the left has also got some bacteria but you should get some mushrooms out of it.
Either the rice wasn’t sterilized all the way or it was a problem with inoculation.

I see you’re from the UK, same as me so I think eBay is your only option. Maybe message a seller with your intentions to buy multiple and try and get a discount? Other than that, fuck knows…

if you're going to spend that much money you should buy an actual autoclave. https://www.autoclavedepot.com/small-25-quart-benchtop-autoclave-sterilizer-120-volt/

question, normal person. why would you advise the 25q autoclave? Im on the market for one as well, but at 25q for 800 bucks, youd be able to get a lot more volume in lets say aluminium presto 75s.
if you have stoves for them, it seems to me you could get 3-4 cheaper prestos which would have 3-4 times the total quart volume.
do you for instance base this one the 25q autoclave being much faster, whats the verdict/considerations here?

I’m guessing he doesn’t need 3 or 4 for capacity as it wouldn’t exactly be economical (or even possible) to stick 4 of these onto a single stove. Also, we 230V baby

230 gang. I had an autoclave and it's a bit unpractical if you have limited space. Since you have a stovetop in your house already. (I hope) But mine was a bit old-school and so the space vs number of jars it could hold ratio was really terrible.

sorry Smalltalk, i did not realize that it would seem as though i was recommending this particular autoclave. at this point, only Guerrilla knows what he needs so i just posted the first link that popped up on a google search. one thing i do know, iirc, is that a presto 23 qt cost around $200 in the UK. i have purchased all of my pressure cookers at yard sales (se usa) for $20 to $40, my favorite being a 1940s model i can fit 11 qts in.

for knollage base, what do you see in Majical's jar to show you bacterial contamination?
And is this something in your opinion happens post PC or before?

If your PC cycle is sufficient then it’s like 99.9% AFTER the cycle.

so whats the conclusion? Are PCs better by volume and speed, price-wise, than autoclaves? its okay to answer based on your region

what i see is thick/creamy white mycelium and very pronounced, spikey spiderweb-like rhizomorphic tendrils. good examples are soon in this thread....https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27187543#27187543

I don’t follow. An autoclave is pretty much an automated pressure cooker…

I sometimes get those spiky rhizo threads during recovery even though before I shake it's beautiful rhizo running through the grains.
- this jar got spiky during recovery and it pushed over 2oz dry per quart of spawn.
I'm not saying this to be a contrarian, mostly trying to make myself feel better since I just spawned some spiky ESS this is my final attempt at ESS so I hope it goes well otherwise I will be one very frustrated and discouraged bigfoot
I also spawned 2 minimonos of Yeti and a shoebox of Gandalf but I ran out of coir so I need to order more so I can spawn my last jar of ESS..what an annoyance lol. Maybe I'll just g2g that final jar since I have sterile grains waiting for something and so I don't have to prep coir just for a single shoebox

Well, the picture I posted was before the shake. I didn't bother to take one after the shake, during recovery when it gets little 1/2 inch spikes. I'll snap a picture next time I see it

Spiky growth can be ok sometimes. I have heard people say this. It's just that 1 symptom can have multiple causes, but if the cause is in 99% one thing, people will always tell you it's the thing. Hope that made sense
