Any other recommendations?

It can take a while sometimes. It’s just barely starting to knot so you’ll prob see pins in a week.

Thank you all for the feedback, it looks like it is time to hurry up and wait. I really was not sure how this box would fair. It was damn near 2:1 spawn to coir...
I had forgotten about those spawn jars when I was making the rest of the boxes and did not have another block of coir on hand. It ended up just about 2:1 the wrong way and without any sort of cover on the exposed grain on top.
I very well could be misting too much but that photo is misleading as I had just misted it. I was leaving the lid slid back with a several inch gap on the short end of the box to encourage evaporation.
For science and all that I guess.

Coming back to the forums after years of rinsing + repeating the same technique without much research and Im realizing a lot of what I used to do is considered outdated/bad practice now.
Wondering if excessively misting surface to trigger a second flush is still a recommended method. This and dunking the entire tub for a short period of time were the two popular methods back when I learned.

I still do that. Have to rehydrate that sub somehow. I prefer a heavy misting cause it is just easier.

Same, plus a few days of heavy misting gives me a good chance to keep an eye on conditions and notice the new pins start.

I just let it ride, Usually enough left in the sub for a good second flush. If I want a third I give the sub a soak and drain.
I try to avoid misting, if my sub is drying out I add more micropore tape to the vents.
(I still mist if it gets way too dry)

Hey, I've posted about this before but I'd like a second opinion. Does anyone have experience with non pe varients blobbing the fuck out ? I have this Maz culture that always blobs. I feel like the blobs also have these vert like bubbles or goo/metabolite on them. It's really weird. Recently, i got it on a completely separate culture, which really freaked me out. The ratio is 1:1,5 spawn to coir which seems pretty standart, altought definitely on the more nutritious side, which could explain the blobbing. I do get subsequent normal flushes.
Anyways, I'd be grateful if someone chimed in how to fix this shiet.

Depends on how much water went into the fruits. I still like to soak the substrate after every heavy first flush.

Have to replace all that water somehow for a decent second flush. The above substrate from last night felt super light before the soak.
The way I understand this is you want clones that suck up as much of the available water as possible for the first flush.
That kind if implicates to me that if you can also run a second flush without rehydrating (and still getting the same weight) that it's just not that dream culture..
Right? Or am I missing something here

I feel like Milo and wbs are going to be the grains I'm going to have to start using.
There is a shortage of red wheat & millet at the feed store in my area.
There's oats but it always gives me trouble.

Sorry to derail with another edible question - but does anyone see any reason I couldn't make a mushroom tea with milk? Yes, I'm aware of how disgusting that sounds. I would like to make fudge but water and chocolate do not play well together.
Maybe I could make a super concentrated tea with water, mix it in while I make the sweetened condensed milk to boil off the water? I'm probably just better off mixing powder into the fudge but milk tea would come in handy for a few other treats I'd like to make

I’ve made hot chocolate out of PE blobs by boiling them in whole milk, straining it and adding the Swiss mix. The actives definitely extracted. I assumed since milk is mostly water it would work.

Thanks! This is the exact reasoning I had but I have a major tendency to over think/complicate things lol.
Hopefully I'll have a praline and peanut butter fudge writeup coming soon but I don't get a semester break this summer so I ain't promising nothin

Hi!
I'm very new to cultivating so forgive me my dumbness. I'm following the broke boi tek (as written here: broke boi tek). I prepared and inoculated 5 jars of brown rice about 3.5 weeks ago. 9 days ago the jars were at roughly 20% colonization so I gave them all a good shaking. Now most jars have colonized to the point where I can s2b I think.
But, one jar hasn't fully colonized. Here it is on the right, besides on of the other jars which looks good:

What's the best course of action here? Do I s2b all jars, including this one? Or just the good ones and wait for the bad one to colonize? Or throw the bad one away?
Thank you!

Hi. Welcome.
Your jar is ready for s2b when you are 100% certain it's 100% colonized.
Left jar looks ready for s2b to my eyes.
Right jar seems healthy. No need to throw it out. Give it time to reach 100% colonization.
You can remove the foil after sterilization.
