Yea why not?
It’s also bad practice shooting spores to grain. You’re better off shooting spores onto some agar then transferring some clean mycelium and then drop that to grain.
fresh beat me to it but i took a long time to type this so im still posting

What kind of grain are you planning to inoculate? I'd stick to BRF if you're working with spore syringes. I don't see any reason you couldn't use them right away unless your spores are old or past their prime and would benefit from some hydration.
Rye berries I cooked due to this tek https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13431948. I will inoculate it with Galindoi ATL7 spores.
More people have already said to me about brown rice. I think I should give it a shot.

Yeah, I know that MS syringe to grain is not the best way. But it still works well. I've been always growing like that. And I have no experience with agar at all but I'd like to try it one day. Maybe you can recommend some agar reading?
So, I think I will wait a bit. Maybe 12 hours or so. I still afraid to inoculate too early. I just have sterilized jars with grain and don't want to wait But yeah I think I should wait a bit.

Not sure if these questions are allowed but are any supporters/vendors selling KSSS UFO or squat pheno? Found KSSS but pics did not include ufos/squat pheno.

I know this gets asked all the time, but does anyone see anything concerning, or does everything look normal? I recently switched from pf tek shoeboxes to grain, and I'm still trying to learn what it should/shouldn't look like

Cool that's what I thought, but there's a lot more mycelium on the top layer than with my pf-tubs, so I wasn't 100% sure how it should look. Thx

It looks very good. Exemplary looking. Shrooms will be soon. Keep the temperature about 21-22C.

Now that it's getting warmer, I want to start using a fan in the room I grow in... but I've read a couple posts where people have mentioned spreading mold spores because one of their tubs got mold and then the fan spread it through their house... is this something I should be concerned about? Should I move my tubs to a room that won't have a fan running? Or were those posts "worst case scenario" type situations?

I'd be more worried about the fan drying out substrate. If you have clean spawn mold spores don't matter.

Cool.. thanks for the reply I'm not too worried about the substrate drying. All I'm running are unmodified shoeboxes and a humidity chamber, so there isn't much excess FAE. It's definitely something I'll keep an eye out for and make adjustments if needed.

Wow just read the weekend "swab story" don't take this wrong because I am a new guy but isn't the point of mycology to isolate a stain and get pure genetics for the best effect, best yield and to make new crosses.
That being said unless I missed somewhere that you were taking live mycelium and using a swab to transfer, I can't see a reason for the swab and even then it seems redundant.
I thought for some reason that, other than long term storage, once you got mycelium you were done with spores and subsequently swabs and prints because they go back to a "random genetic" that you would only need if all of your live stuff was not viable.
I have been wrong most of my life so I can take it...wouldn't you just use live transfers, cloning and LC once you get to that point?
Just want to make sure I learned sumtin' from reading that.....or not.
Today bought a new shelf, put it up and am now out of space again.....the way of new hobbies....lol

Legit for species/strains that don’t drop spores normally is the only excuse imo Quite a few posts in the weekend swab story agreed/pointed out

after how many weeks since spawn would you say a tub is stalled? my first ones with Amazon aren't doing too great and it's almost been a month.

At 4 weeks I'd definitely be concerned but temperature plays a big factor for me, if low temps then it does add quite a bit of time for me, as does a too-wet sub.

hmmm yeah the temperature is probably it. probably 15-19 celcius tops in the room.
ill take pics later, but the condensation makes it difficult. for the ones that stalled, I did do an extra sprinkling of coir on top to not leave exposed grains, but perhaps it was too thick.
the spawn was also a bit more on the iffy side, but there were no contams and i split it into 2 1qt and 1 2qt spawn shoeboxes.

Take the lid off for the picture, or we wont see shit. We need the surface of the tub, in focus, high res for best evaluation

So I’m new at posting here so I don’t know if I’m interfering with the discussion or how to start a new thread… But I figured here is where I’d get the quickest answer besides doing a search obv But I’d like som one on here to tell me straight up. I’ve done the PF Tek about 20+ times with a lot of failure but also a lot of success, and especially recently: So I’ve decided to start working with LC & grain. Seems like the logical next step. I’m also thinking about making my own syringes and sticking with BRF as well for a while too. What is the best way to go bulk and what are your suggestions? I’m excited to take the next step on this odyssey.
