What’s wrong with this shoebox (quit growing for a year.) I was told I need more FAE and some light on em. I recently cracked one side of the lid, thoughts?

FAE is up in the air but you sure as heck need light.

I don’t recall using light before but maby i did. Will a tiny light suffice? All I had before was a low watt ceiling bulb and that was good for 20+ boxes

I'm not honestly sure what quality of lighting is needed but I believe there is a certain spectrum you're going for at least. I use indirect sunlight but those look just the same as a tub I threw in a dark closet and checked on a while later. Thin and long with tiny caps.

I've read the best lighting is with 6500K light shining directly above the tub.
In addition to light and FAE, I think you have a contaminant in the tub influencing that phenotype.

Probably best to have them away from my other tubs then? I don’t see anything bad at surface level. Granted it’s been under 70, with zero light and in a closet…
I’m hoping the added light, higher temp and having the closet cracked will help?

I used to be that way, constantly buying totes, shoeboxes, random containers to grow in, every jar at the thrift shop
It’s all about self discipline,. Unfortunately It’s lost on a lot of people (not saying thats you) since they are constantly being told “just do what makes you happy!” “yolo” “life is all about having fun!”
Actually doing the hard work and stuff that is not always fun but ultimately leads to a goal is much more rewarding than instant gratification!
If we were able to do the whole mush cult process in 1 week would anybody still be doing this long term?! hell no! it would end up in the pile of old hobbies right next to pogs and digi pets…

Well when I first started growing (granted I used WBS instead of oats,) I still used mushboys shoebox tek. Just mixed them and forget about them, I’m 99% sure I didn’t even crack some lids and got good flushes.
Question. If they did have PE genetics in them, would I do anything different? (Some are PE and idk which ones are..)
What would you suggest I do my friend? I just flipped lids, added light, cracked the closet and got temps to 70

I've got a few of these upside down fruits which despite their chosen orientation are still growing fuzzy feet at the 'base'. Just thought it was interesting, you'd think it would develop the fuzz at the substrate end if this were down to high humidity/too much CO2/not enough FAE.

Guys, how do you sterilize your jars? Do you submerge them completely (at the level of the grain) in water? Or don't?
In a small pressure cooker, it is not possible not to immerse in water, in a large pressure cooker you can leave the water below, put a stand and sterilize the jars without direct contact with water. What's the best way you think? And why?

Put only enough water so that it doesn't run out. Your pressure cooker instructions should tell you how much this is, or you'll have to experiment. More isn't better, you want to steam sterilize not boil.

Amazon for bulk. I also have a medical supply store in town I can go pick sleeves up from when I'm out and can't wait for a delivery. I'd like to support a local store instead of Bezos but the local store isn't willing to give me a price break on a case

Honestly I wouldn't mind if it cost a lil more to get em locally, I'll check out two lab supply places near by. Online options sucks, I'm soo weary of anything on Amazon anymore. Nonstop scams
Why did I wait sooo long to get the flow hood? Life has been so much easier

It's a swab. There isn't really a guarantee of cleanliness so I wouldn't worry about it

Hey folks. I did a quick search but didn’t turn up much. What is the linage of “White Rabbit?” A cubensis culture I just put to grain.
