But like was said a few posts before. There's a bigger chance one has bad spawn, witch will cause these problems and make you think it's because of overly wet sub. Sub can hold a lot of water and be good.

How about a wheat/water ratio?
Yep, it'll be ready to go. I need to figure out a wheat/water ratio for no prep. I'll start working on that. Thank you SpaceBaby. I was thinking about making a little write up on this thing. It's simple but if the people want it, let me know it works. It's kicked to the side to give room for a stirrer to constantly run.

I think a write up on this could help a lot of people with their syringe game.

ayye cracka, do you do no prep like that for bags too? seems like it'd just squish around and not really work but I'd love to be wrong here

Sadly, I haven't. I'm with you on that. When doing bags I like to prep it, I run my bags on the drier side, especially oats, so I want more control over that.
Nich, I think it would help people but you know, at the same time one more thing for people to pick apart. Not directed at anyone, just saying.

the other day i thought of a hobo-tek for swabs I wanted to share. I generally just jam the tip of the swab into a plate and rescue it from there if it contams, but removing the excess length of the wooden handle in a sterile manner is annoying and i don't like keeping around one-off tools i barely use on my bench. so what i did was, while the swabs were still in the package, break both near the tip, then use the remaining handle portions as chopsticks to nab the swab and plant into the dishes. didn't require any flame sterilization or extra tools which was nice/the point.

We've been doing this for years. Not me specifically but it's a well known "tek", don't know if anyone wrote it up yet though. Softer agar + jamming the swab in there is the way to go to germinate spores that otherwise don't want to germinate.

I'd expect it's been done countless times, I'd just never heard of it so wanted to share. It was the 'chopstick' aspect I thought was worth sharing in particular, not jamming swabs into plates. A lot better than asking my gf for er tweezers and her getting mad at me for scorching them lol. And yeah it's worked fine for me, getting clean germ plates with it right now.

You're welcome, I didn't rinse mine first. It wouldn't hurt though. I just loaded and PCed. It's a media bottle converted to fill 50 syringes of spore solution or even LC.

Not sure what's happening here. First attempt with PEs. Looks gnarly. Some caps looked discolored.

No need to cross post this, people will answer you.
Those are PE blobs most likely due to a lack of a casing.

There's lots of growing left, they will start to feel soft when you squeeze them when they're ready.

When they start getting soft. Just twist, you may tear up your sub a bit but oh well.
