Question: If My PC is running out of water can I stop, refill and continue? or does the heat have to be non stop? For grain jars….
The reason I ask is i found the pc at the thrift store but it doesn’t have the bobbler, it releases steam quite a bit….

You would have to start your cycle all over again, venting and all unforunately. When canning low acid foods they even say that if your pressure drops to below 15psi that you restart the timer once you achieve 15psi again

Yea he's right.
I'm not familiar with that model at all but try and see if you can order a replacement part. It won't build much pressure if the vent is wide open.

I might be wrong but that thing looks like the models that don't have a rocker, it looks like one of those that goes to 5 or 10 PSI

Good call, thanks guys
Mateja: the manual says it has 8 and 15. I hope it’s correct, I did some broth the other day. I’m not familiar with the “weight” if it has one? It does take a while, about the same as my bobbler, to come down in pressure when I opened the release at full pressure. (I did that for my boiled eggs, not the broth.)

if by bobbler you mean jiggle weight and you don't have one, you won't have a PC until you get one. you need the pressure to raise the steam temperature to sterilization levels. you need to keep it there for the recommended times.
EDIT:
I see folks beat me to it.

This is how my IKEA PC looks, they're not suppose to have a rocker and yes they do release a huge amount of steam, I'm sry to say but these are not suited to sterilize grain and most likely they don't have the capacity to sterilize for 90 minutes without loosing all water..

yea I bought a similar PC at goodwill for $4 lol. I'm scared to run it no gauge or anything and can't seem to get the right gasket. Heavy stainless tho.

Welp, there goes $10
Haha I was reading the manual and it said you can get the steam to slowly escape…might give it shot, I was almost excited to move up from 6qt to 8.5qt. It is what it is…
Thanks for all the help

it won't do the job. don't waste your time or raw materials.
why not just buy the part and save yourself more than the part costs and s fuckton of heartache.
this hobby is challenging enough with the right tools.

The right part is a pc that utilizes wobble weight, not whatever mechanism this has, but i think you’re right, not worth the time

I made this meme long time ago

Not saying anyones cutting corners but it pays off having the right equipment
Altho I would advise you to keep that little PC for sterilizing agar and LC's i usually always sterilize liquids and agar in the small one cause it gets to pressure much faster and cools down much faster, a Presto23 really is overkill for sterilizing a few scalpels and a bottle of agar

Different sized units for different jobs, definitely worth the investment to have a well stocked assortment of tools if you plan on being serious about cult.

Used to, still have everything packed away. Hoping to have a better build out next time around, I'm considering running a 30ft refrigerated sea can as a fruiting room (gourmets)...time will tell.

Never heard of it being used for mushrooms. It's for plants. It's peat moss, verm and perlite plus the fungal additive whatever form that is in.
Probably would work for certain species.
