I have used a LC syringe sitting at room temp for over 1 year with no problem. The answer is that it’s likely longer than that, but I’ve personally never tried.

I just tried 1.5g of regular cubes that were TEN YEARS old this month. It was the last of my stash from my first grow ever. They were stored cracker dry in a mason jar that was not opened much. No vacuum packing, no cold storage, none of that spray can that gets the oxygen out of the jar.
They had absolutely no noticable loss in potency, I got exactly what I expected from a 1.5g dose.
Vacuum packed bags I'm sure are preferable but I don't think you need to fill your freezer with them. Mine sat in a hot garage for several summers.

Fascinating info, Forrester! Thank you for sharing this, I've never heard of anyone eating 10y.o. mushrooms before. Once I gave my friends some Serbica and they ate 1g each and it still blew their brains out after 2.5 years of cracker dry storage. It just works.

That's wicked to hear. My cubes from my first grow are still packing the punch they should.

How much LC should I use to spawn a 3lbs. grain bag? Does using more accelerate the spawn time?

JXAllen said: Quick question for you guys... I've got my first flush of an APE culture coming in. What am I looking for, for doneness? They've all opened up pretty early, no real veil as far as I can see. I'm planning on waiting for the edges to start curling up. I'm just curious how much I can expect them to grow on this flush? I know larger mushrooms usually show up in later flushes. This is a 6qt shoebox, for scale.

Those look more like Avery's Albino than APE to me, but I'm still working on my first APEs.

The lack of blueing is something to note as well
Hmm... I'm not very familiar with Avery's. Revert, is that because they opened up like regular mushrooms? I was expecting a different shape profile. But, at the same time wasn't sure exactly what to expect. They bruised a nice blue when I harvested, just now. They're small, but heavy for their size!

This is the mushroom the culture was supposed to be taken from.

I forgot a full dehydrator that ran for over a week. The fruits were just fine. Didn't seem to loose anything at all. Dry is the key, and the temp doesn't matter so much.

Agree. I like to use a whole 10ml syringe for 3 jars, my natalensis are fully colonizing in a week when done that way.

I just free pour straight from the media bottles into a jar. Probably anywhere from 5-15ml per jar. Never had any issues. Just prep grain on the dryer side if you’re worried.

I probably use too much but I've been running 32qt mini monos. 3 quarts of spawn and a top layer gets my subs right up to 3 inches. I make my SSLC jars 100mL. 25mL SSLC gets free poured into each grain jar and I see full colonization in 5-7 days. Shake at 100% colonization and it's fully recovered in another 5-7 days.

Nichrome I would add that drying as fast as possible matters. Low temp slow drying is not as good as high temp fast. It really looks like the target is highest temp that doesn’t burn. Or MAX on a dehydrator.
