It’s commercial kitchen equipment, so yes, but full would not be necessary once pressure is achieved. It only needs maintained.

I was debating whether or not to buy one of those but went with the suggested propane range with a low pressure valve.
wonders and it doesnt take 10 years to start a cycle like my hot plate did.

1500 watt hotplate only makes 5k BTU on high and your gas range is something like 16k BTU, major difference. Regular electric stove 8" burner makes around 9k BTU.

How many runs do you think you can get on one full tank? I use a hot plate and it works well for my situation but that looks like a nice setup you have going there.
I’ve used propane fuel gauges on my grill and I never find them to be all that accurate. I’d just hate to run out of fuel mid cycle without a backup.

Warning: Please no one do this.
You all would get a kick out of one of my burners. A 15$ amazon 1500 watt burner, wired to always on. I then found a AC on/off timer with seconds on, seconds off, so I could regulate it. It works fine, and safe enough for me, if there is a huge heatsink(full 23 presto) sucking the heat away... About 25 minutes to boil... 20 minutes to pressure. Cheap. But a Cadco is the only real electric answer, and honestly, not much more expense. I have found a few older electric burners with true variable power (without the thermal safety) but they are rare.

I would imagine you can get 8 or 10 runs out of a standard LP cylinder. I have a 250k BTU burner for brewing 10 gallons of beer at a time and I can get 4 runs out of a tank and I have the flames turned up much higher for that than you would to run a PC

Ok interesting. That’s not as many as I would have hoped for.
Call me wasteful, but I’ll often fire up the Cadco to make 2-3 masters whenever I have some free time. I feel like if I had a tank that got me 10 2 hour PC sessions, I’d try to run more full PC loads and stop doing the one off stuff.
Now you have me thinking of cost.
If my hot plate is 1500W and I run it for 4 hours per day @13 cents per kWh that’s $0.78 per day. 30 days a month gets me to $23.4 in cost for electricity. Roughly the same as a propane tank exchange. So I’m getting 3x the runs for the same cost?
Someone check my math here lol
It’s also likely less $ since I’m also not running it on high the entire time. And I don’t have to refill any tanks.

2-3x sounds about right. I was just going through a similar thought with my garage heating.
Bought a diesel torpedo heater and quickly discovered that it costs an arm and a leg to run that thing.
Broke out the calculator and discovered I could run a high powered electric heater for roughly a third the cost and without splashing diesel everywhere lol...
In the grand scheme it's still very cheap but yeah.

Fuck those diesel heaters! They cost a fortune and a half to run, they smell terrible, they make your clothes and all the belongings in you garage smell terrible, and I had one blow out while running came back to a garage full of aerosolized diesel fuel.

Quick question for you guys... I've got my first flush of an APE culture coming in. What am I looking for, for doneness? They've all opened up pretty early, no real veil as far as I can see. I'm planning on waiting for the edges to start curling up. I'm just curious how much I can expect them to grow on this flush? I know larger mushrooms usually show up in later flushes. This is a 6qt shoebox, for scale.

Those look more like Avery's Albino than APE to me, but I'm still working on my first APEs.

I was thinking the same quirk. Look like either revert apes or mini averys.
The lack of blueing is something to note as well

Typically how long will a culture syringe last at room temperature? +- 70F
Also is cracker dry and vacuum packed freezer storage best practice for long term after harvest?
