So i need to get a 4 inch propane turkey fryer cooker basically? A small version of what i posted. Awesome
And by low pressure you mean PSI regulator? Looking at one thats 10, is that low enough?

have used similar burner to pc / cook stuff. i just regulate by putting more distance from burner.
Not optimal but it works

I inoculated a 2qt container of BRF with a MSS spore syringe 50 days ago( like you can see in the pictures in this thread)because I had some leftover substrate and spore solution. I never thought that it will fully colonize and I was pretty sure it stalled already a while ago.
Today I decided to trash it but I discovered that it is fully colonized and that I had mistaken some of the verm barrier for uncolonized substrate.
I am pretty surprised that there still seems to be no bacterial contamination. But I don't have any experience besides my first grow ^^ so could you tell me if that's surprising or just the way healthy mycelium deals with bacteria and the benefits of a wide an short container?
Cheers
I saw another big one in a thread Worlds biggest PF cake.. I think it molded during fruiting, but you should fruit that bad boy since you’ve got it. It could have some bacteria in it, but with BRF/verm substrates, it is usually suppressed in a way that allows the mycelium to out compete it and take over. The shape, being wide and shallow definitely helped prevent it from stalling. Good luck! Make sure to give it a good dunk. It will be thirsty after 50 days.

Low pressure refers to the regulator yea, 1/2 to 1 psi is low pressure 10 psi is high pressure.

dont forget the LOW PRESSURE reg/hose it recomends the high pressure on the buy together

Speaking of pcing, I watched one of southwest mushrooms videos on YouTube and he said he brings his grain to 15psi, then drops it back down to zero, before starting his run. What’s the purpose of that? I’ve never done it, just vent for 10min then rock and roll

Would my AA 921 fit on there comfortably? And how much cheaper is propane than electric stove top?

This is a method of venting the last remaining air. Highly NOT recommended with bags or liquids...

Do RH and elevation affect the steam that comes out of the PC during venting? When I lived at a much lower elevation getting a full head of steam wasn't a problem, now I can't achieve it nearly as well. I boil the jars for 20 min, attach lid, pre-vent at lower temp for 20 min, turn heat up and wait at least 10 min after airlock engages. Steam is plentiful but inconsistent.

vent at full maximum heat always (within reason if you have a huge propane burner lol)
Elevation makes it "easier" to boil water because it lowers the boiling temp, reaching temp faster but lower
Quote:
Water at sea level boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit; at 5,000 feet above sea level, the boiling point is 203 degrees F
You should increase your PSI by a 2 or so if you are over 2000ft.

Yes I recently found that water boils at 97°C here. I've been PCing at 18-19 the last couple weeks and noticed that the highest temp the outside of the Presto reaches is 113°C. I don't know much about heat exchange, the inside should be at least 121°C. Just seems strange it would read so much lower.

How do you guys like to hydrate your coir. Do you measure it or just squeeze out the excess water

Lately when I use the presto I first vent the PC by putting on the lid but not locking it, let it get to a rolling boil and wait for 5+ minutes before I lock the lid by lining up the handles. The safety pin pops up within a minute. Then the usual 10 minute vent through the weight pipe.
Seems easier for trapped air to escape that way instead of trying to push it through a hole in the lid. The PC drips a little bit during the first phase but that the only downside.

about 3.5-4 qts water per brick, add verm till field capacity if it's too wet

What a great thread! I was so excited to see it birthed even though I knew it molded in the end. Maybe I should try to make the worlds biggest PF cake . But I have to step my agar game up before even thinking about it... I guess it has to be the cleanest PF cake in the world as well.
I just dunked my cake for 24 hours and rolled it in fine verm. We will see how it goes.

Finally seeing some action in the tub. Typically how much time before harvest from this stage? Still learning patience.
