Iβd rather have 5 shoeboxes go bad and get 1 clean one than have a full mono go bad.
Even if everything is clean, youβre still going to pull a lot of mushrooms off those 6 boxes. If even 1 jar is bad in your mono, you would have potentially fucked your whole grow.
Also, do not under estimate the need for plates. You will want more than 2.
I made a beginner's guide to tek workflows, please feel free to share if you find it helpful!

I've wasted more time trying to make LC work in a SAB than I care to admit, most of it contaminated. So if I can't consistently pull off LC in an SAB, I won't recommend others try it. And it being a guide geared towards beginners (who are notorious for wanting to do LC before even fruiting a cake) I kinda wanted to deter the over-zealous beginners.
TLDR; too high of a failure rate for a beginner guide

I see. Can you think of any reasons why LI worked for you in a SAB but LC didn't? I've had really good success with LI in a SAB because of your tek, and I guess I can't wrap my head around why inoculating LC with a chunk of agar would be any different than inoculating a petri dish or grain jar. I'm curious because I plan on trying LC in a SAB in the near future.

LI is non-nutritional and thus somewhat contam resistant. LC is a nutrient rich liquid. Easy for contams to germ and grow quickly in, and almost impossible to detect the contamination without testing the culture on agar or grains. That is my understanding from my limited reading and experience.

I understand the difference between the two. What I don't get is how one could lead to failure more than the other as long as your culture is clean and you use good technique in the SAB.

I tried multiple methods like pouring and aspirating syringes. Everything just came up green or very bacterial. Maybe its just the nutrient rich water is more likely to germinate random bullshit that finds its way in. Maybe it was bad filters, I even tried unmodded but couldn't swirl those very well. I don't think it was my technique in the SAB, so without spending more brain damage on it, I'd just rather leave LC to those with hoods.

Did the open agar test on the new flowhood today. Had my paranoid schizophrenia friend read me a tarot card reading to check if the transfers were clean. It was confirmative. Alot of swords.
Now just gotta wait 4-5 days to see if they are clean in the real world:)

I read about the Year of the Tiger for 2022. It mentioned 2021 the Metal Ox. Seems accurate enough generally.
I have like 10 tubs I've been staring at for a while now. I think I prepped em a bit dry and they're super slow.

I've read a bunch here but I cannot find anything pertaining to environmental conditions in regards to mine. In the winter I will regularly sit in the 20's and sometimes teens, in regards to RH.
I think it's obvious environmental conditions play a big role. Are there any NE growers who have extremely low RH in winter months that are willing to spread some info love?
