Couldn't tell between tempered and not tempered? That's wild. Maybe it's the amount of rainbow powder in them acting as a bonding agent.

As most that have tried jamming a foreign substance into melted chocolate can speak to... adding lots of mushrooms to melted chocolate can easily cause it to seize. ruining it.
turning into powder does:
1) keeps it from seizing 2) makes the end chocolate very very uniform (no more drugless mini bites) 3) Much easier than spooning in little amounts or folding in portions at a time, hoping it doesn't seize.

If you don't have one of those blenders (they are cheap) I bet someone sells chocolate powder. But one still need to pulverize the schrooms.

yes, the powder needs to be as fine as flour but the shrooms would have to contain moisture in order to cause seizing in the chocolate. cooking the powder at 175* in coca butter drives of any moisture and make the chitin digestible. i put 2 grams of shrooms into a 10-gram chocolate. a king-size Hershey bar would have 14 grams of shrooms in it.

My personal belief is water isn't the only cause for chocolate to seize. I swear it can seize if you look at it wrong. My shrooms are always very very dry.... and theres still a point at which chocolate can seize for no apparent reason. People here were just batting around doing a 1 to 1 ratio. That will seize.
Since moving to this powdered method, its been easy sailing.

That method is very effective for large ounts too. A water bath full of bags could make a lot of morsels quick.

unsure where the benefits cease to shine... I make dozens of gallon bags of this powdered mixture... but maybe you are large scale.

Interesting idea. I'll have to give it a try. I do know that untempered chocolates with .25 grams to six grams are we too temp unstable. Maybe with more per bar the powder would hold the chocolates better. I know my buddy made a bunch at 1 gram to 6 grams choco and they practically won't melt.

nah, batches of 50 at a time. I'll give your method a try, might save a little time. except i'll still be cooking the powder and butter for a couple of hours, tests on friends with sensitive stomachs have confirmed the necessity of this.

I'm just speculating, but it feels that because the powders are evenly distributed before the melting begins... its less likely that a local area will get too high of a mushroom ratio, as it might when one adds mushrooms directly to melted chocolate.

i use a double-boiler and stir, melted chocolate is still thick enough to not allow separation.

I'm not a pot guy, but I remember back when people began to make pot candies legally out west here... that some businesses got caught gearing up to make chocolate bars, but when the guidelines finally arrived, they weren't allowed to have all the actives in one package.
Do we speculate a similar situation as mushrooms come to market?

I'm pretty sure I did 1:4 (powdered) or so pretty tough but doable with enough elbow grease and a big bowl. Big mess. It's not pourable you have to spoon it into basic molds.
1:6 or even more would be needed if your trying to do intricate molds.

there are only two ingredients needed to make chocolate, cocoa butter and cocoa powder. if too much powder is used the chocolate will be thick, dry, and hard to work with,......adding mushroom powder? add more butter. one part shrooms, two parts butter, two parts chocolate chips heated to 100*F is easily drawn into a (modified) meat injector and then squirted into a mold. no elbow grease required.
