Exactly.

Cubes being so hardy leads to a million methods that will end up with mushrooms. A lot of people don’t care about finding the most efficient way, they want the quickest, easiest route to shrooms even if it means a high failure rate and less than optimal yields.

Hence why uncle bens is so common.

The people who want to the best methods are the ones who end up having to sift through all the other stuff and try to figure out what’s what.

That’s one of the main reasons I stay on here trying to help people. I spent an incredible amount of time reading, researching and trying out tons of stuff before settling on the methods I use now. If I hadn’t been in a situation where I had unlimited free time to do all that stuff there’s no way I would know half what I do now.

If I can save somebody potentially weeks by pointing them to the best tek then I feel like I’m getting even more out of all the time I’ve spent digging through threads when I was in their shoes.

I always find "mycelium" a funny word because there's a singular and plural form, but isn't the concept uncountable? Is it a bundle of mycelium or a bundle of mycelia? Mycelia is a material like meat or bark, so how could you have one mycelium or two mycelia? No, it should be one or two strands/plates/whatever of mycelia (or mycelium?).

I can't be the only one that finds this linguistically bizarre. It's like having a sip of water or a glass of waters.

Or is it always singular (mycelium) unless we're talking about multiple types/groups, like "waters"? For example, "shiitake and cubensis mycelia are different". It's similar to how "water" and "sand" are pluralized.

"what you see is all there is" Daniel Kahneman

People are bad at learning in wicked systems.

It's annoying that people are particularly dumb at understanding reality, but it's sadly not limited to growing shrooms.

I understand completely, I started learning to cultivate cubes when I broke my foot and couldn't walk for over 3 months. Gave me alot of free time to research and learn and I still feel like im only scratching the surface.

Thankful for all you TCs passing on the knowledge, what started as a side project to bypass asshole dealers has become a genuine passion and source of joy for me. Always look forward to reading whats new in Shroomery land

Anyone who's grown cubes and had success should move that success to oyster or lions mane. Figure out what may be not ideal in those grows and incorporate that back into cubes or move onto exotics.

Cubes suck by all means IMHO.

Yeah I’m unfamiliar with the consistently different trips from different species (not varieties within a single species)

If you are talking about relative hardness I find oysters and reishi even easier than cubes.

Cubes do get easy though after a few good attempts

for any species its just a matter of understanding the organism and what environmental factors give desired results.  I don't think any one is much more difficult than another unless you don't understand it

Adding dry grains (buck wheat) to hydrated corn to buff up the total grain weight, is showing promise so far:

Mystery shroom still mystery.

I'm shocked at finding the bottom two pictures when googling images for "psilocybe Hispanica".

What's going on here? What are these?

Heh, I can tell you an insider secret here, that post almost got deleted when it was at like 4 responses, and it's been reported a few times for misinformation. It's still up because it's general discussion and people shit on the reddit mods over there enough as it is; plus it's not like this site where threads stay active for months, most are done after 24 hours.

So funny that there are people that agree with the guy. It just shows how Reddit gathers up the noobs, they post a few pictures of decent flushes, suddenly they're experts with their box fans and HVAC filters!

My favorite redditism from posts is when people post a 50g wet mushie and people flood them with OMG great job that's amazing it's so big! Boof it! WOW that's MASSIVE! Meanwhile over here we've got plenty of folks beating/pushing 200g fruits...I've gotten close a few times myself, and that's with very little clone work aiming for big bois.

It’s so weird how many people I see or talk to that won’t come here because they think shroomery is full of “elitist assholes”.

I’ve never seen that here, nothing close. I guess people just don’t take new/corrective information well and think everything is personal.

I mean they can’t all be crazy stupid like somebody going on a science forum and insisting the earth is flat and then bitching about how elitist everybody is for disagreeing. I hope.

Oh man, people argue with me all the time when I post FACTS on reddit....There's just things that can't be argued, and it happens all the time. Most recently I had someone arguing with me about how their grain was sterile, it just had contams in it along with the mycelium, and that it'd be fine if the mycelium grew over it...People will post a jar that's 99% green, a tiny spec of white, and you'll see 5 comments telling them to take it outside and bury it! The other day I saw someone recommend a user check out shroomery or mycotopia, and they said shroomery looks too confusing for them. I'm guessing they're a young user, forums have been around forever...

A lot of people don't get into the forum section here and they wander through troves of old info. I didn't understand how to use the site 10yr ago, and I was probably uneasy to make an account at all.

Hell I didn't even read my presto 6qt manual so I never vented. Also tried spores to honey lc then to turkey bags of popcorn

Funny enough I never even looked on reddit back then for mush, lot of ent shit but not mush or drugz. Probably lucked out really.
