What's the consensus on plates right now? I'm seeing the celltreat 500ct 100x15 on ebay for $138 shipped.
I think they were $124 shipped on Amazon

are your plates contaminating darrayld?
Everything has contaminated, everything. I have to start over with new cultures this week when my new filter arrives, not from China thankfully. It's just been an uphill battle compared to the past where I pumped out 100s of gs per flush and always sat with 400g +. I can't even get basic shoeboxes to fruit, just cobweb and trich.
Considering I'm looking to go back into large scale edibles, I'm just feeling annoyed. But I have hope that things will improve shortly. No more dirty wbs and a new hepa.
What about using this as an opportunity to build a big old SAB for the time being? SABs are hard with bags, yes, but totally doable if you use some creativity (or just run jars if you aren't making 20+ tubs at a time) and I mean if you need mush asap and want reliability that's the way to go.
Edit: quirk beat me to it

A custom built SAB instead of the ol plastic tub approach could certainly accommodate bags if ya feel crafty. Eitherway by utilizing syringes and LC you could make it work rather well, bags in the SAB.

Heads up on cheapish decent quality coir bricks (US)
Petco currently has a thing for zoo med which has been good for me in the past - $5 after tax (/w autorenew), delivered. That's about the same price as the cheapest 5kg blocks on Amazon, but better quality.

I reckon you may be right, time to move the plants off of the sab and use it for its intended purpose 😉

How long can I leave an unsealed bag on a shelf?
Left an unsealed supplemented HWFP bag out since Aug 27, for science. Today is Oct 15.
It is finally showing mold along the side where the bag appears to have lost its seal over time/via handling:

I just bought 100lb of lime to do some straw oysters akin to natedawg. I haven't had any good eats for a while cause I'm lazy. Not sure how much lime is really needed but straw bales are cheap.
Picked up another 300# of wheat too. Gonna do agar to bag with the 24 sterile bags. Lotta melmac coming, but definitely gonna do the PEUXMM first. Right now it's time to melt agar. Clones to sample, and I need to expand my azzies and cyans for mulch mountain.

Hydrated lime is poorly soluble in water. You can only mix so much before it won't dissolve any more. The colder your water, the more lime you can dissolve, the higher the ph.
Should be enough to pasteurize a couple bales of straw.
Edit: Solubilty of hydrated lime at different temps: 1.89 g/L (0 °C) 1.73 g/L (20 °C) 0.66 g/L (100 °C)

300grams to a 55gal if I recall. 100 Lb should last a minute
Anyone seen cocounut water LC? Just found a recipe equal coconut water to water 1:1. Easy LC.
Edit: after watching full video series and they open a bucket and go "Oh green, I'll have to monitor that" If coconut LC is anything like their oyster cult, nevermind folks.

Anything with sugar and carbs can make an lc. Coconut water would work. They may just be bad at cult work.

This is why hydrated lime is a cold water pasteurization option. If you can heat the water, then just heat the water for standard pasteurization.

It's an ivy league school, makes me want to teach
For lime pasteurization he boiled the water and added the lime. It's called cold lime pasteurization like P9 mentioned. No gloves, mask, goggles, that shit is horrible to breathe in/caustic.
