Yeah I had no idea they were a thing until I posted a picture of an old plate I found under a couch that looked like something was eating the myc.

Hey guys I got this Bm cube that pinned like crazy on agar, Im talking every plate. Grew it out in shoeboxes and first tub had more side pins then I was used to but no big deal. But this 2nd tub has pins all over the bottom too. I made this like all my other tubs and dont usually get to many side pins till after the 1st flush. Always pack the sub down pretty good. Should i put this on a rack in a bigger tub or something?

I like how they hang bags so they can fruit 360’ all around. I would just have a big mess if I did that but it’s really cool.

Oh, mites are so evil! I never had mite issues in cult (at least not that I knew about), but they always get into my nutritional yeast and breed in there. They can get through the threads of most jars, and they can get through many methods of sealing (*clamping) plastic bags. Now I'm storing the excess yeast in a mason jar with the lid wrapped in plastic wrap (cockroaches ate holes in the parafilm I had wrapped around it).

I'm really hoping it isn't mites. I'm losing my shit right now. And then will literally be losing my shit if it is. I haven't felt this stressed in a long time. Now there's gonna be this constant of anxiety of all my work going out the window. Is there even a good possibility that trial ISN'T mites? Fuck me.. Sorry for all the mite talk. I just can't fucking deal right noooooow
EDIT:

Cider vinegar with a drop of washing up liquid…drown the little fuckers!
I recently read something RR said about controlling mites…he didn’t seem to bothered about it…but it does need addressing.

Yeah, poured petri plate. Was more just to see if I could kill it and keep the plate. There was a spot of mold where it died but it didn't get too big.
Wasn’t there a film about flys going Into microwaves 👀

Ladys Knight swears by peppermint oil. Not sure what kind of concentration is needed.

Holy shit I didn't realize mites were such a force to be reckoned with in this hobby. I've never noticed them and I don't use liners either but this kind of stuff has me scared now lol

lol I had a little table where I stacked old plates and a couple times I bumped it and a stack fell over and some of them roll pretty far.
It’s kind of crazy they can get into wrapped plates even when mold can’t.

Mites only turned up when I left my plates sitting in the SAB to get rid of some condensation, at that time I had my SAB permanently fixed to the table with some duct tape and some moisture stayed kind of permanently in the gap where the tub was sitting on the table. I vacuumed the room more often with an industrial vac and cleaned the workplace and it was all sweet after that . Must have caught it in time.
They like it moist, I'm wondering how they spread over long distance and how far can they get?

Different environments carry different pest problems. I can't walk into the lab without bringing bugs inside so I bought a bug zapper. Keeping the drains clean, moldy subs outside, and bad jars emptied promptly minimizes bugs. Potted plants can attract bugs. Nighttime bugs are different from daytime as well.
I got another dump truck full of free mulch so I'm gonna expand my plant free yard space to minimize the bugs. Kinda ready to be done gardening outside to prep for next year better.
Once I finish innoculating the last few dozen bags I got I'm gonna reorganize my shelving so I have better A/C flow. Changed my FFU setup so I just work on one table instead of reaching halfway over a second table. Bit of vibration, but I'm so close I can crush the work and I think it's gonna be more efficient all around.
Getting my cube collection prioritized and bout to get back on top of gourmets. Lots of oyster jars with little fruits that have escaped the SFD lids I also got my exotics just screaming for grain in the fridge. Same for my Ganodermas.
Fuck, I gotta spawn a bunch of bags too.
