IKR, here in Argentina everyone and their mothers are starting to sell grow kits (always spore to pre-sterilized grain) and they put cringe descriptions on different cube strains. Like how Mckennai is the "strongest cube known" and how Golden Teachers are harder to grow but with more rewarding yields (?)

I just don't understand how it could possibly be even throughout with the element coming on and off, specifically the bottom. Idk. I got a temp gun I want to do some analysis.
And I've recently cooked a couple 9+lb bags individually, with like 1+ inches of space alla round, without letting it cool gradually, and  experienced absolutely no warping at all.

I honestly don't think it has to do with space inside the cooker nor cooling gradually.

I don't even get how cooling could cause a pop, as it cools it contacts, not expands. If anything I figure it would be from it expanding to quickly.

In which case I've had experiences where I turned down my burner too much, and it drops to like 10 psi, so I turn it on all the way, which may cause it to increase to quickly. And I believe this may be a factor.

I wish there would be a way to test all these variables individually, but that would be alot of prepped grain with no cause. But I am seriously committed to figuring all these variables out, and hope to do a bag write up myself..

When the contents of the cooker are up to temp it should be even throughout.  Popping bags is usually from extra space that gives them room to expand or if your running a presto and its cooling too quickly u may need to try gradually dialing down the temp

My bags still cooking…about 20 mins left…I was just gonna turn the gas off it’s on the lowest it gets already

I’ll just let it cool down naturally it’s not that cold inside

It's crazy. Even regular orange capped cubes with no verifiable specialist characteristics, gets called all kinds of jazz.

Like this lizard king shit someone sent me. Okay so this is Jim Morrison's personal strain?
Woahhh.

If you knew the prices people hustle out random ms cubes and GTs for in western Europe, Americans and Canadians would go into spasms and be brain dead before you hit the floor

Albino market also inflated to fuck.

I sell grow kits sometimes too, but they are finished when I send them, no action required. Sometimes they contam it happens, then I replace them.

What I'd do if I was a beginner or lazy rich man, would just be to buy plates and grainspawn from  reputable grower.

But obviously there's a huge market internationally for hustling out spore prints,

So only way to navigate this is to educate yourself by learning what strains have true uniqueness or actual specific characteristics.

What strains are true and what are scams

The cooker cooling too quickly will definitely pop bags. Its the pressure trying to equalize too quickly. Same reason youll pop bags if u take tge rocker off mid cycle.

Youll have a hard time getting a reading on the cooker with a temp gun.  The reflective surface will reflect the laser and youll most likely get something close to room temp

I don't get how that's physically possible. But I'll agree until I can prove it differently.

Maybe I could put some black paint on a section to get a reading...

Also it melts at 360 or lower... I think it's totally in the realm of possibility the bottom of a PC can get this hot just from the element, and more specifically the lowest already right above the water line.

Idk I was going to do a temp check on Monday, but good thing I didn't because of the reflective deal, maybe I can mediate that

yeah every time I've popped bags, its after turning the heat off. last time it happened was just around 12.5 psi, so only a few minutes after cutting the heat.

My favorite are the sites that have each variety rated in like 15 categories.

“Visuals, empathy, philosophical,” etc.

It’s quickly turning into the new trendy drug ripe for bullshitting, just like medical weed in California 20 years ago with all the new strains and names. So many people would only smoke whatever popular strain was going around at the time. Never thought I’d see label whores in the drug scene

I had a bag expand and clog the vent once after cutting the heat.  ended up blowing the overpressure plug.  it was not a fun mess to clean up.  it had been off for at least 20 minutes before it happened

I dont think measuring the temp on the outside of the cooker will give you an accurate idea of whats going on inside.  u need a thermocouple

How would you know? Don't get me wrong, I can smell pretty quickly if a bag pops and grains start to really cook. But you smelt it or..?

Ya I defibetly think the plate is necessary,  I wish I could understand the physics behind it expanding during cooldown...

Maybe that's it and it only pops them sometime. Idk I guess I'll focus on that also, haven't had many popped lately, but really trying to make it a zero.

if it was because of the temp being too hot on the bottom of the cooker then we would all be popping bags all the time

I have noticed popped bags when I don't let the pc cool enough before opening. I noticed that even when the pressure gauge reaches 0 psi that if I remove the rocker on my 921 or open the control valve on my 75x too fast when the pc is still hot I end up with popped bags. I now bleed it slowly everytime and popped bags have become non existent.

Bags popping is simple.

They pop because they are over 212f when exposed to atmosphere and the water inside must be steam vapor by basic physics.

With no pressure inside the cooker to press back against the bags they will expand and pop like a mini pressure cooker inside a pressure cooker.

The bags have a thermal mass so if you drop the pressure inside very fast they are still over waters critical temperature. It is actually a form of Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor explosion, just not a cool one.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_liquid_expanding_vapor_explosion

There are three key elements causing a BLEVE:[3]

  • A substance in liquid form at a temperature above its normal atmospheric pressure boiling point.
  • A containment vessel maintaining the pressure that keeps the substance in liquid form.
  • A sudden loss of containment that rapidly drops the pressure.

If you dropped 15psi steam pressure instantaneously (e.g. removed the lid) nearly every drop of water inside the cooker would flash into steam vapor and rock your world because water does not like to be 250f in atmosphere, that is supercritical. That makes it a little easier to understand I think. What's happening to the bags popping is just like that but less cool.

--------------------
Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it.
