I've added a handful or so of nutrient yeast to my wheat prep b4, but it made no difference. You wudnt wanna add anything to coir that's not fully colonized grain. Coir is nutrient deficient, which is why it's so badass. Otherwise it wud be growing all kinda dumb shit on its own. You want the food source colonized completely with your desired mycelium so nothing else can get ahold of the food source and turn you tub green.

Did giveaway and I think 2/20 people get germination, everyone else was blank plates.
That's my limited experience. Maybe if the 18/20 swabbed the entire area for spores they could've got it, but I dunno, doubtful.
My LPEU/APEU print I got from you germinated

[Feas] Ah, that makes quite a bit of sense actually when explained in that light.
Spawned my two compost/coir/verm pan cyan wild texas bags to tubs - pretty sure one is toast (too wet) but I let it run for science. The other seemed to be in good shape and might actually lead to fruits
Been looking into adding lactobacillis to pan subs post sterilization after hearing someone say they've been using it successfully for sterilized pan teks to buffer the sub. Apparently it's pretty symbiotic w/ mushroom mycellium. More research needed. He said he runs a solution at 140F for 30 minutes I believe before adding it to his bags. Said he "doesn't add much" I requested a more detailed write up, haven't followed up yet.
If true might even be something that could be added to bucket teks - add lacto solution flash pasteurized at 140F comprised of lactobacillis probiotic capsule 65B CFU (21 bucks on bezos) when temps get below say 115F add to bucket. Might be worth a shot. You would probably also have to add something to buffer the PH against the lactic acid produced. My research shows some lactobacillis varieties can withstand 167F for 10 minutes and live.
Found this thread, not exactly the same idea, but some good info https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24775445

Just an observation but you are taking prints below the flow.

Why does my agar always look like this? Weak and whispy in the center, and turning a bit rhizo on the outsides. Just curious. I use fairly high nutrition and dense agar, 30 g Malt extract 20 g Agar 1 L water

[Peppel36]
If this is only spores or a t1/t2 (first or second transfer) it's not unusual to only see tomentose (fluffy) growth like that. As I understand it some varieties never go rhizo even after 6+ transfers.
Another member [Tedsdead] pointed out to me on the previous page: "For nutrients. I like the idea of using low nutrient agar tho. The idea being that stronger genetics will grow out on the plate and youll get more explosive growth once it hits grains"
The idea is with less nutes the culture will reach more to find them.
30g MEA seems a bit high. You might do better by lowering that concentration. I've seen some members use as low as 10g per L. Also I would suggest reading a bunch of pages in the agar thread to get a better sense of people's methods. Hope this helps.

It does help Wiscoregon, thank you!
I was going to try D3s agar recipe this weekend and make some transfers, it has way less ME. This is actually T4. The previous plate was more rhizo, but what I was curious about was why it was tomentose in the middle and turning more rhizo in the edges. Can bacteria do this or any other kind of contam? Or does this just happen some times?

Maybe it doesnt like the medium. Maybe it is being overcooked and converting some nutrients. Just for shits and gigs do a batch at 15 minute 15 psi without overshooting and see if looks better. Bring it down to 20g/l but 30 is functional.

It is most certainly overcooked, but I had no idea it could cause issues and didnt even think about it as a possibility. When I made this batch I had a pressure cooker that only reached 12 PSI so I was doing about an hour of PCing to be safe. I have a presto now so when I cook the new agar this weekend I'm going to do 15-20mins instead. On the plus side I only had a single contam so far (to my knowledge), out of about 40 plates.
Thanks a ton, Sandman.

Not a flow hood . Ghetto fabulous. 3M filtrete 2800 doubled up with UVC behind in the plenum and a merv 14 prefilter Shouldn’t work so good . I’m running at 30% or less of rated CFM which increases filter efficiency. I only had one or two out no pour plates of 50 contaminate. It’s powered by a bathroom fart fan that pushes 120 cfm . It’s a gentle flow but micro organism that miss the filter are blasted repeatedly by ionizing radiation (UVC) in a turbulent plenum thus killing or rendering unable to duplicate anything that slips by the filter. Putting 3M’s claims to the test . Everyone says it shouldn’t work so good but it does.

I never noticed there were holes on this part of the presto 23s.

Purpose?
They are definetly inconsistent between units.

From the photos, the point is the tab, not the hole. The hole is a side effect of how they created the tab: from punching the metal from the other side. I'd guess they don't care if the metal rips since it doesn't affect anything, but sometimes it doesn't rip and there's no hole.

I think it's for a lug to slide in when you turn it for safety to keep lid on? I don't have a presto anymore but probably something like that. It's outside of the gasket so outside of the internal part of the cooker.
