hangry and stoned is my main issues LOL
If a TC poops in the woods do mushrooms grow? Shit's getting heavy in here.
Finally cleaned up a print that kept obviously commingling with green mold. Been trying to clean up with the POKE. 1 drop of water spread all over the plate. Can't tell how much of a mold load I still have, but def. reduced it a TON. Colonies are finally not presenting as prior big blobs as seen on the back plate. Maybe 2-3 x-fers before I give up.

How long do you guys fight difficult cultures? It's this dudes spores proven by every other culture being clean and his all green. Even my "wet" prints are clean.

Im kinda angry because im hungry and tired. Yes.
This is the closest thing i could get. This is a first gen pfXape mycelium from mixing spored and it exibited signs of scalloping. But this is from june 24th! So its grown past the scalloping at this point but you cans till kind of see it. I opened the plate just to take thr pic, i already grew out a print for the true f1. But ive onlt seen it with strains that have pe/melmac in their lineage personally.

This bag was inoculated with at least 3 plates thay were scalloping, it is just ape tho. Clearly rough. But the spawn in a couple weeks old. I used like 6 dishes to iboculate it so it went fast. Been busy

Quick question for anyone in here, but how can I tell if a plate inoc'd with MS is actually growing myc or not? I have a drop that I put into a slightly overhydrated plate, and I can not tell if the growth I am getting is mycelium or a satellite colony of some contaminate. Ty for any answers.

I hate to be the only one commenting on this but if this is what the dish looks like without being obscured by the lid I'd wager that was contaminated with mold.
Those bags are looking very bad.

What do you wanna use? I dont see anything
You can also hammer a hole in the lid and stuff it tightly with polyfil from an old stuffed animal or pillow if you need to be resourceful right now

This is probably a silly question and I think I know the answer but if I used a cooler to pasteurize straw in it would using the same cooler for coir be too risky? I know you shouldn’t do grains and coir using the same buckets so I’m guessing the same with straw. Straw was from tractor supply already cut in a bagged bale if that makes any difference.

Hey everybody I was using my chainsaw to create wood chips & sawdust and I realize that the bar and chain lube oil is petroleum based & probably toxic so I changed to cheap vegetable oil from the grocery store now I feel better about using the wood chips and the sawdust I create and won’t stay up at night wondering if that shit leached into my shrooms.

so... Ive been using the x5 weight of coir tekky for getting substrate to field capacity and its coming out far too wet... Anybody else find this as well with just straight coir?? In lockdown atm so I cannot access any verm, I guess most people add 2 quarts of verm to the block of coir for this tek??

1:5 is too wet if it's just straight coir that doesn't get mixed with verm.
I was using 4 quarts to 650 grams of coir and then mixing in a 2-3 qts of verm to bring it to field capacity.
I think it would be very tricky to initially hydrate coir to the perfect level by itself. It's easier to overshoot and dry it down.
