I've never had issues with triple clean Oat. I can't decide if I prefer WBS to oat, may be nostalgia. Wheat is def King.

I wish I could find a steady source of wheat in my locale. I was using popcorn which works great but the price isn't worth it when I am trying to scale up production. I tried to switch to RGS but I have had terrible results with it so far. Producer Pride whole oats are just as bad as the RGS.
The nice thing about those triple cleaned oats is the bag is clompletely see through. I did not see any sticks, seeds, cracked corn or dust in them. So they are more than likely going to be my best option. I cannot wait to start prepping them when I get home in the morning.

The Teachings of Don Juan is one of the 5 books ive read entirely. Fantastic. Personally i wud smoke the bageezes outta that pipe to "energize it" if you will. Put life into it.
Yeah, im sprouting a mighty oak thnkin bout them cakes. I like how you got them in jam jars. Josex is all about them. Wud like to use them this time.
I still cant believe mycelium didn't take to my acorn squash experiment. Fucking rude if you ask me. Never got to use rectal snot as an additive either.

I own all of Carlos' books but those 3 are my favorite. I have read them each about a half dozen times over the past 5 years. The others atleast twice. I feel like I learn something new each time.

There are some rad aliases here.
Im too tired to jerk my gerkin let alone take pics of tiny white pins in low light, but my APE tubs are pinning. One is bacterial and the other has trich going ham style on 5/6th of the tub. Jst poured 99% iso over the trich patches. Never bothered to fuck with a tub that's triched. We'll see wat happens.

Yeah i've done a few rounds of grain using agar wedges even agar I thought was clean that ended up w/ some Bacteria and colonized very slowly. I did same as you, tried to get it as dry as I could get it, using the fridge overnight, nothing seemed to help. And this is good high quality oats too, you can tell its a refined quality. Finally, I took the cleanest plates I thought I had, Made 4x oat water LC's with it using 1/2 Pint jars with the lids flipped and the rings turned as tight as they go so it doesn't leak when I mix them by hand. Then took the two out of the 4 that looked the best to me (just eyeballed it) and poured like 15-20ml into each quart jar of oats thought for sure I overpoured by accident, I actually did overpour. I just took the rings off and held the flipped lid down with my pointer finger and crack the very edge just enough to pour and just pour it into my receiving jars like i'm doing a g2g, but you actually get less air exposure by far than doing a g2g you don't have to open either jar nearly as wide (someone with a lot of experience could probably do g2g as cleanly, but it's more difficult). Anyway, it's a great trade off between air exposure and colonization time.
I then just mixed them very thoroughly to get it as evenly distributed as I could (and as you pointed out you get bacteria after shaking, this way i'm just mixing from the get go), no standing water of any kind by AM it was all absorbed, kind of hit a sweet spot, 2 of them were 95% colonized in 5 days (this was actually because I didn't swirl the jars enough between pours so two got too much mycelium). Beautiful and clean, they look like the healthiest grain I've had in a while. I'd get a picture but i'm feeling lazy, I'll take some later when more are done. I'll probably do LC from now on w/ oats in general, that fast colonization makes a big difference. No sign of any tams in any of the jars so far 5-6 days in. Two of the jars didn't seem to take so I actually hit them a second time with more LC (knowing the bacterial risk), but even those are looking fine surprisingly.
I poured a bunch lazily onto some agar plates too, it's kind of messed up because there's standing liquid on the agar plate on half of it, but it's tilted due to wrap on the plate stack, so the dry areas fluffed up with mycelium, looks super duper clean, already blasting rhizos 36 hours in, the original agar that went into the LC's was pure tomatose. Whatever rigor it was searching for it found. I'm a true believer now.

damn, let me know how that goes! i'm glad it's looking hopeful to you. i'll have to try that with some grain water next time i make some grains. i'm gonna keep playing around w the oats, but i'm really hoping WBS will do it for me

I like WBS, but it kind of sketches me out. I bought a bag from a big box store like a 40lb bag or something stupid big. Colonization was a little slow, so I emailed the company asking them if the seed was treated in any way. This PR lady send me this lengthy email saying they would never put anything artificial or chemical / harmful on the seed and then ends the email by saying they treat the seed with a chemical. It was a bazaar case of cognitive dissonance but besides that part, they told me it's treated w/ (S)-(+)-Methoprene (forgot brand name) an insect larvacide. It's very toxic to aquatic life...more or less the MSDS is not super attractive its some nasty chemical shit that hasn't been tested on human health, because it's not designed for human consumption. But certainly nothing I want on my mushrooms or something I'm eating as a food. Everyone has their own standards about this, but if you use WBS find out from the company what you're getting. Human grade millet is great, but more $$$. Sorry to be a downer, but most people would probably want to know this. What indicated to me that it might be chemically treated was a warning on the bag that said "wash hands after handling"
I went down a similar rabbit hole recently when learning about MSDSs for caulks (the same RTV caulks people use for lids and think are safe to have exposed to liquids 24/7/365.) Even the ones w/ NSF/FDA/USDA 'occasional food contact' safety ratings have some seriously nasty shit in them. Again, nothing I want to eat food from after reading about.

EDIT* The bird seed brand was Audubon Park http://www.audubonpark.com/products/wild-bird-food-6/

So don't get mad I did try to search it but there was never an actual answer and it brought up a bunch of threads about people's tubs smelling bad. Why does PE smell so much like feet/gross cheese when you're dehydrating them? My other cubes I've ran definitely smell a bit but nothing like jamming the dehydro full of dicks. Whole house smells haha. Got home from work and thought man my feet smell like shit today better shower and change socks. Got out of the shower and opened the door and realized it wasn't my feet and was the mush I was drying and forgot about. But ya that's my real question if anyone's got an answer why do dicks smell so funky??

hahaha, I have no idea why, but I had a similar experience with PE6. I didn't really notice when drying because I wasn't around it much. I ground some up to make capsules tho, and the rest of the day I kept smelling nasty ass feet. I didn't realize wtf until I cleaned up my workbench in the evening.

I've been making my pan-cakes and these BRF cakes on the drier side to allow for the LC, and try to give them the smallest squirt I can.

OK but myc will switch from tomentose to rhyzo and back depending on the substrate, and contams - which might be hard to see... So rhyzo growth isn't necessarily equated with rigor, even though lots of people (as do I) select for it.
