Yeah and that's great and its reality that not everyone is a scientist but I kinda admire those who aspire to be more. Especially those who don't put on airs and are just truly curious people who respect science enough to want to be a part of the community. I've met plenty of very educated scientists who know all the big words and who aren't half as passionate as p9. With the amount of information available if one wants an education they can absolutely get it. If that's not you then yeah, do the scientists a favor and don't steal valor. In my eye that's humble but celebrating getting the job done without any of that fancy shmancy science just hits me as disappointing or at least is not my cup of tea.
But yeah, fuck education, learning, accuracy, curiosity, analysis, and gleaning knowledge from the reports of others. Who needs it as long as you can pump out like totally sick canopies dude. #growmoarmush indeed. God bless the shroomery.

It's all relative. Some of the stuff in this thread may be over the heads of people who don't think of themselves as scientists.
But I bet you turn around and tell your gamma about agar and she's going to be like, my sweet little science nerd.

I dont think anyone was saying fuck any of those things. Seems like you're just tryna find something to one up people about, again
I consider myself an amature mycologist and am slowly getting better at recording and analyzing my data into useable information. I think thats science?
At the end of the day my point was, who cares what you call yourself? If you're passionate and able to get the results you want, who gives a fuck if you know all the big words? You dont need to be a scientist to grow mushrooms or be a part of shroomery.

Tf do you guys think people are doing? I’ve straight up admitted I’m retarded when it comes to documenting my shit before but I don’t think my contributions have been nothing. Growing more shrooms, means more shrooms and more prints to expand the experimenting and knowledge base as a whole. Look at the natalensis thread and tell me there isn’t some type of scientific experiment at a large scale.
Sorry we do drugs mom instead of putting ourselves in debt to become fuckin lab rats making some other dude rich to make sure our hobby is “super well documented with fancy words”.
Fuck, wasn’t shroomery mentioned in radical mycology? Is that not good enough considering it’s still an illegal hobby in most places and all?

👋
First off, these last few pages of posts was a fun read! It put me into some deep selective hearing (pregnant wife) trying to follow up on wtf everyone was talking about lol
I’m in yea because I love growing mushrooms and everything about mushrooms! My grandpa told me once you couldn’t grow morels which led me to the discovery of the Shroomery. From here I learned soooo much. Not just cube culting, but how mycology was a thing. I signed up and joined under a user handle I can’t even remember the password for in 2008. I wasn’t even slightly interested in my biology classes in high school, but here I was being taught science shit I ignored in school by people I met here!
From then it became a dream to be a mycologist on paper. Fast forward after a major drug addiction fallout and a few therapy sessions were a therapist told me that maybe I’m not happy because I’m living my life for other people and not myself. That was when I decided that my mind is set and I will do anything and everything it takes to become a mycologist. I’m now back in school taking 1 class a semester (baby steps) getting closer and closer to my dream. I plan on taking College Biology this semester now that the labs are finally face to face. I wonder what everyone is gonna think when they see that I’m a real natural with a ffu and can pour my own plates 😂

Not what i mean at all. I think you missed the point homey. I'm just being honest about the extent of my knowledge and abilities; and conceeding my understanding is probably lacking on when myc can/can't cross. I think it's unrealistic to expect every person that contributes to our field be like true scientists.

Haha, my grandma is actually a total #growmoarmush supporter. She always is going on about her hustle and her stacks on stacks of tubs. We haven't spoken since I produced less than a QP dry last year, a shame.
Also, my point wasn't that having no interest in the science is a negative but that it sort of makes my heart sink to see a lack of respect for it. I know growing mushrooms for whatever reason is perfectly A-OK but the attitude that science isn't worth checking out if it doesn't apply to growing, even at benign levels, just flat out bums me out sometimes when seen on a site that provides so many chances for this curiosity to take hold. My little rant at the end was an exaggeration of the vibe I was getting, I don't think any of you said or think those things and I apologize.
I'm not saying I think you have to be a scientist and not a criminal but being a criminal scientist in my eyes is sort of the ultimate.

Sounds to me like you're setting up arbitrary boundaries to make yourself feel better than other people and trying to gatekeep whatever you think "science" is.

That place is a ghost town. Nah, I'll stick up for this board any day even if I complain about it sometimes. The cons outweigh the pros and I believe, not that I expect it to matter to you guys, that everyone here has something to offer.

You come across as an elitist asshole. With how incredibly smart you are, you should realize the scientific benefit of a community like this. A lot of REAL SCIENCE is done here. Tons to advance mycology in general not just SIQQ CUBEZ BRUH.
I just wonder what you think acting like this accomplishes?

Hey, I get it. Fractal just wants other people to see the beauty in science that they do.
Fractal is also a tad unskillful in expressing that and ends up coming off pretentious as fuck.
But hey, we all do drugs, we can't expect to have social skills too.
