39c here (102f) and I just finished some transfers in a SAB. I make a game of it now. While setting everything up I turn the thermostat down a degree or two. Then about 15 minutes before I begin I turn it up two degrees above normal and spray the room with Lysol neutra air and wait for the air to stop moving in the room. Then it is a race to finish transfers before the air kicks back on. Today I won. Tomorrow I might not be so lucky. lol

hot tap water. I fill the bucket in the shower faucet. I used to boil it, but that means waiting over night for it to cool. no thanks!
I use a shoebox to scoop it out. they are 6 quarts. so I'll scoop and level out a full shoebox, dump it into my garbage bag along with my grains, mix them up, drop it into the mono, and trim the bag up. after I've trimmed the bag to be a liner, I'll add another 2 quarts as a top layer. I do this by grabbing 3 large handfuls, which I found equates to 2 quarts.

Oh, baby! I have not smelt the scent of fresh mycelium in a long time. I just made my first shoebox in 2 years or so. The jar I thought had a stalled spot has pushed through and hit 100% today but I'm waiting for the morning to do that one. I am excited to grow again.

You knw what i been noticing about bears... They generally dnt want any beef with us. And they smart too. I've seen all kinds of videos of hunters up in their little spots in trees and a bear will come walk by and see them and run up the tree and get in their face like "What? You gonna shoot me motherfucker? Do it!" They'll muscle you out of your food if need be but they generally dnt wanna tangle assholes with humans. They understand that many of our species are pieces of shit.
It's interesting people still use hot water to hydrate coir. Why?

Grain night partially ruined cause one of my Prestos won't hold pressure. The thing's only like a year old at this point but it's definitely been run pretty heavily.
I tried lubricating the gasket with a little oil and stretching it out but even then it kept leaking steam at multiple points around the lid.
Is it possible that the lid could be fucking me right now and not the gasket? The dog pulled it off some boxes and the entire thing, lid and body attached, fell like 5 feet and hit the ground pretty hard. It's possible my sealing ring's just old but I've never had it fail to get to pressure after lubricating it with some oil. I don't see any obvious damage on the lid, there are some nicks on the lip of the cooker where it meets the lid but I'm not sure if that's been there or not.

When you bring it to a boil, keep moving the lid around, are you seeing water run from the sides? I have been able to squeeze the pressure cooker lid to the base and get it to unfuck itself.
Hope that works

Check the little white gasket that holds the pressure guage. That was the first thing to fail on my presto. They don't sell a replacement gasket for that one (or if they do, they're hard to find) so I ended up buying a new guage for it.
The gasket should be soft, but overtime they start to harden. A 5 foot drop could easily damage it.
Edit: just noticed you said it was clearly leaking around the lid. My bad. Been a long day.

Thanks for the advice Prep H, I think it's just that lid + body combo that's not fitting too well for some reason.
I swapped it with the lid+gasket from my other Presto and it's running just fine now, and it looks like the lid that was giving me problems fits more snugly on the other Presto body so maybe I just need to avoid that specific lid and body together, weird. And get a new gasket ofc.
And all good TFP that's super useful info. And same here too had long ass day and I just wanted to get this run done before bed but looks like I'll have to start it then get back up to turn the thing off, here's hoping I don't sleep through the alarm.

Yes this is your problem. gouges on the top of your cooker sealing area will make it leak. You can carefully fill these nicks with JB weld and scrape it level and lightly sand it smooth.

Sometimes you need a new gasket, they sell replacement.
Right now my thumb is busted open, and bandaided, cause I slipped trying to pop my AA75X open with a bamboo spatula handle Idk if it's little warped after running too long the other day or if I just didn't grease it up enough, but I'm worried it's the former. Eitherway I gashed myself, but at least the unit works fine otherwise.
Might have to chalk it up as a learning experience, deduct the unit as loss, and just make it work till it's wrecked. If it gets stuck again I'll at least wear gloves during the opening process.

Mine leaks around the lid occasionally, I give the gasket a good wipe down and it usually seals again. Not sure if vasaline Is recommended for pressure cooker seals but I know it helps seal dried o-rings

What is recommended for pressure cooker gaskets? Are they usually silicone? I suspect vaseline is safe since the gasket is probably silicone. That combination is okay.
*Soap should be safe to use and works, but oil would give longer lubrication.

The manual that comes with a presto says to use vegetable oil but not sure that is actually the best choice or just recommended as common and convenient.

A couple drops of coconut oil worked well for me with an ancient presto. I would stay away from anything pertolium based. I took some sand cloth to the mating surfaces and cleaned them right up, no leaks a few months in or just buy seals
