Munchauzen said: gardening coir is no bueno. i really can't stress enough how much you should avoid it. absolutely do not use it. it is treated with molds because plants love molds. fungis hate molds. DO NOT USE horticultural coir. only reptile bedding.
if you want to do pf-tek with coir, you must use the bricked stuff. suck it up and goto Petco or Petsmart and buy the 3pack. its $10.
as for the recipe
1 brick coir 2 quarts verm 1 cup gypsum 1 gallon boiling water
this makes a shitload. but it will keep for weeks, even months, at room temp. if i had to guess, it would probably make over 100 pf-cakes. anywho
NEXT
measure out 5 jars worth of the coir, verm, and gypsum mixure you just created after it has cooled down. add 1 cup of brown rice flower to that and mix it thoroughly. pour that back into your 5 pf-tek jars and continue on with the tek.
good luck! just ask if you have any more questions. this is a pretty non-standard approach but I have personally done it and it will work with a high rate of success, so long as you follow good sterile technique.
Thanks Munchauzen. I really appreciate all the advice and the tek recipe. I just wanted to ask because I happened to see some of the stuff for $4 for a 12 lb bag. Didn't know how well it worked. Say, do you have a youtube channel? I think I have seen your videos.

You don't need 10 SFDs for 10 lids. You can make enough SFDs for 10 lids by cutting 1 of them out into quarter-size circles. But having 10 is nice because you'll inevitably want more jars down the line.

I'm getting average of 10 Oz dry from each tub with 10 Qt spawn (105 Qt sterility). How does this compare with everyone elses yields? Getting 16 Oz dry from a tub would be boss if it's possible.

Hey guys,
last week I did my first Grain 2 Grain and it seems very nice. Colonization is going on, but its is concentrated on some spots in the jar.
Shall I also shake a Grain 2 Grain receiving jar after 30% or shall I just wait until full colonization?
Regards

Best I ever did was almost 4.5oz dry off 2.25qts from my 27qt mini in my sig

Thanks man! It's my proudest accomplishment in cultivation thus far, but I haven't been able to repeat it with 66qt tubs.

I hate waiting for results on important SAB sessions that I was exited for, but after the SAB inoculation session, am worried and less confident about.
This hobby is beautiful.

I find my g2g jars to colonize in under a week. I only shake after g2g to disperse and then again to spawn. 30% happens like 48 hours later

Mine usually take 7-10 days and are shaken after 3-4 days.

I bet they take 7-10 days without the shake at 3-4.
Do you do immediate shake after you finish the g2g?

I did one qt to 9 8 days ago. But I filled everything up too high didn't leave myself enough room to shake. 5 jars are pretty much colonized and the other 4 weren't even close cause I didn't disperse enough. Had to shake them again and hope I was able to move them around in the little headspace that was left
