Do you guys think radiation could be used to force mutations in cubensis mycelium similar to how UV spectrum light is used to mutate Claviceps species in order to develop high alkaloid producing strains? Not talking about increasing psilo concentrations but more of radically altering phenotypical characteristics.

Id have to look it up but I think crazy ol Steven Pollock was into this, and I believe PE lore includes mutagenic UV practices.
Not very helpful, but that's my 2 cents.

Oh really? I had no idea PE involved forced mutations, super interesting - if you can provide a link to that I'd be really appreciative.
I'm going to have access to a 254 nm UV light in early September, not sure what the wattage is though, and can probably slip in a few petris.

Like I said it's part of PE lore and I'm not sure how true it is, I'm balls deep I to a case of Russian beer so take what I'm saying atm with a grain of salt, I've read so much myco counterculture shit about Pollock, Professor Fanaticus, Terrence McKenna and the like that it's hard to sort through.
Mutagenic UV manipulation of cubensis cultures sounds super familiar though.

I assume everyone on here is balls deep in something at all times.
Thanks for the tip on this, I'll do some reading on it.

Random comment.... Just found you can use the plastic PP lids as your trivet elevators. I didn't like keeping metal lid rings in there cause they rust. No rust from PP lids, and no melting π

Lenz said: So I've never actually made a BRF jar before but I wanna try to germinate some swabs with em Josex style.
Only question I got is can I grind my own BRF for this? Old searches on the board seem to say it's fine but don't know if I need it to be a very fine powder for Josex pucks or if it's ok for it to be a bit coarser.
Yes. I always grind my own cause it's cheaper. Trick is to find the right amount for your blender. Enough to stop it from just being thrown around, but not so much that half of it doesn't find the blades. Mine takes roughly 1.5 cups at a time.
i have a Vitamix A3500 with a 48 oz dry-grains cannister. itβs like the AA of blenders.
I have the same blender. Love it!
Hazyhorse, its fine if your temps are a bit lower. Its crazy temp swings that are not good. Especially if it swing up constantly. That can lead to bacteria
