Quirk, did you survive all the flooding you were dealing with?

I went for best value without getting carried away on the budget. Menards 11% rebate is tought to beat.
The flooding drained by the time I got back from the store gotta get the ground around the building excavated and improve the drainage as well as build a retaining wall. If it doesn't deluge it's never a problem, but that was the worst I've seen yet.

Awesome, was wondering if you had come back to discover tubs floating around everywhere in your neighborhood. XD

Except for what I did to the lab bathroom,

I already love it. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the mess to dry up a bit and will use the shop-vac. I love my new 6-hp Dewalt.
However, I did go get a bunch of 5-gallon fine mesh paint strainers and 2 food-grade 5-gallon buckets. Next time I'm gonna soak in the strainer and then lift the fucker out and hang it from a rig in the shower to drain, thereby preventing mess and waste. Unless there is disapproval with reasoning.
Because it's hanging bunched in a bag should I give it some more suspended time, do you think?
As ever, I appreciate the generosity of time and knowledge.

Killer. That's the answer I was hoping for! Thanks.
I love shit that has an apothecarian vibe:

I have 8 more 64-ounce amber mason jars in transit. Not that I'm sad I need them. I do overkill on the desiccant packetsāfood-safe, color-shift 5-gram packets. I love knowing when to change them.

When I was just starting I said aloud, I'd love a large mini-fridge. The next day Universe sent a nice size one with freezer compartment for $40. Sweet.
I'll need a bigger one.

I can't fit them all in with the agar media bottles. I gonna have to purge. Makes sense: I pulled the Death card from the Waite deck last night before the storm.
On no0ther note: I just spawned 2 myco-quarts of Huatla oats to a gallon of straight coir. I've started to riff a bit on some TEKs, currently mostly tubs. Things are so bountiful, thanks to you generous cultivators, that I can afford to fuck up, which means learning

Dang. I jst pour the shit on my kitchen counter with a fan blowing over it. Turn halfway through.
I been storing my dried fruits in a 5gal food grade bucket. One of them deals with the rubber lid seal. Seems to be fine so far though i will put them drying packings on the shopping list.

Man I'm proud of y'all for taking the time to set out the millet and dry it and all that. I'm happy to use wheat with no soak or drain and only have one pot to clean.
Btw Spacebaby, I think you can throw those desiccant packets in the dehydrator to revitalize them instead of just tossing em.

Mini fridge is such a good investment. I'm a hoarder though and I really just need to eliminate everything but keepers and varieties on MS I haven't gotten too yet but for the time being it's gonna be stuffed to the brim.
Feaso, have you ever had any problems taking plates in and out of cold storage multiple times? I imagine as long as you're careful during inoculation and in sealing the plate back up there shouldn't be any issues but I'm paranoid that things will slip in after taking a plate in and out of the fridge numerous times to inoculate with.

As for the previous discussion about long term storage, I use molecular sieves instead of silica. Silica is pretty powerful for removing large amounts of moisture, but sieves are much better at getting the humidity down close to zero. Silica will reach a more humid equilibrium. (If you put silica gel and molecular sieves together, the sieves would recharge the silica and become full themselves. Strong stuff.)
Molecular sieves are harder to recharge than silica. My electric oven doesn't get hot enough

Finally doing some myco work again, inoculated 7 jars of Rusty Whyte, 7 jars of Texans and 1 tiger drop of Cambodian. Mixing up some LC later and bagging a further 10kg of wbs.

I have a ton of desiccant packs now.
Every few months Iāll go through and replace the ones in the bags/jars and throw the old ones in the dehydrator.
Seems to work alright but sometimes the color change beads turn a third color

I have had a lot of success with atmospheric stetilization with the 30 gallon brewer kettle. I have sterilized around 200 bags now and my success rate is 97%. The other 3% could be due to sterile technique in front of the hood also. Who knows?
I can only sterilize 24 bags at a time and my goal is 48 bags a week. The only time I have to do this is on Saturday and Sunday when I am off from work. I figured at some point I may have to up my production anyway so I bought another 24 bag setup. So now, atleast I can spend a day out with the family.

I probably should have specified that I sterilize supplemented substrate bags. I have never tried to stetilize grain this way. I don't know if the material being sterilized makes a difference or not. Maybe I will throw a few grain bags in on the next run and see how they turn out.
