Not sure how I feel about millet now. My rye jars are a little harder to prep but they all colonized in less than ten days. The millet is doing good but there is some pooling in some jars from the li and the growth isnt near as pronounced as with the rye. Not a fair comparison though cause i used my strongest clone on the rye lol
Millet be so cheap though!

Amycel uses Millet...It can work really well once you get it dialed. Don't give up. I remember making tabouli or something like that with grains and the prep is really easy..Comes out dry too. Can't remember the recipe...Uses Millet or Bulgar wheat. Might help.

Try throwing a blender ball in there next time

I only began to do mush cult seriously on 2017, couldn't grow anything worth a shit before cos of life and circumstances. I didn't know mush cult was such a lot of work and it's all ridiculously messy.
I'm surprised there is not a "Post your Mess of the Day" thread because I think it would be hilarious.

My MS agar to rye has been going about 12 days now, and there's a circle of mycelium that's leapt off from it that's only about 3 inches across (and that's the most grown jar! Others are smaller).
I feel like it should be much bigger by now...will the fact I used smallish agar slices have caused this delay? There's no visible signs of bacteria as far as I can see.

Cool idea, I might have to try that
I'm still not sure how careful I should be when shaking though... like should I avoid letting the liquid touch the lid as a possible source of contams? I normally shake so the liquid doesn't go up near the lid, but I think i could get a much more intense shake if i could shake it up and down and not worry about liquid hitting the whatman filter or injection port.
And here's where I bought my sterilizer http://www.fungi.com/product-detail/product/all-american-415-qt-pressure-sterilizer.htmlr
You can also get them here but they won't ship sterilizers to Canada http://www.shroomsupply.com/canners-sterilizers/stovetop-sterilizers/all-american-model-1941x-non-electric-41-qt-sterilizer

I really don't know how the bods and the azurs don't get side pinning with no liner...
Surface conditions my balls, I made sure the tub received lots of FAE while maintaining surface humidity... still, this one tub have like 3/4 of all the mush weight on the sides and the bottom, the sub is not even visible with so many shrooms.
On the surface there are only a bunch of phat, super dense mutants that look like they'll rape my brain good.
Most fucked up, weird tub I've seen lol I think I'm going to harvest tomorrow and will take pics.

Please do that sounds interesting.
I know I'm afraid to lose the liner myself. Even with pins covering every inch of the surface of my tubs I still find a side pin or two creeping up the side of my liners

Do y'all use 2" or 4" Parafilm for wrapping your disposables? It seems like 4" is ideal and cutting a strip off to wrap is suitable?

Def don't lose the liner man. I decided to go with no liner because my tubs are not perfectly rectangular like the sterilite totes you guys use. Have all sorts of weird shapes around the perimeter, so using a liner with these can be a bitch.
That's the thing with living in EU, you can't fkn buy a plain, rectangular tub

2"... 4"... ? What are you talking about?
I take a roll of saran wrap, and slice through it with a rocking motion with an expertly sharpened chef knife to a width of 1 to 1.5 inches. If you are suggesting precutting strips for each plate, then you are making your life harder than it needs to be. Unravel it from the roll as you wrap the plate and pull to snap the saran wrap when you've completed more than a full rotation around the plate.
My opinion on liners:
always use -- I've dabbled in no-liner in the past, and all that got me was an ugly green trich stain on my nice monotub that trips me out everytime I see it and think my sub is infected... won't go away
liners are super easy to lay down -- Mist the walls of the tub first to moisten them and then put the liner inside. It'll stick to the wet walls pretty good, making no issue to dump the substrate into the tub.

I am talking about Parafilm, not Saran wrap.
