The presto is the same, my lid lock and plug don't pop up until the steam has a good hiss going. I vent my 1915x for 15 mins as well, you should definitely run for 10. Bod had a pretty good test going once where he recorded internal temps and correlated to length of vent time. If you dont vent long enough internal temps will be lower than what the pressure guage reads. This can lead to incomplete sterilization and issues with bacteria.
This is why I go longer, just to be sure. It doesn't use up any more water than normal, it not only wont harm anything it will likely help if you're struggling with an unknown source of bacteria.

Tonight's [first?] question is:
Do these look healthy enough to finally run a monotub? 5-qt spawn to 10-qt coir? Or should I quarantine to shoeboxes?

I think I'm seeing some bacteria, but my myco-eyes are too new.
I'm pretty happy with the other projects. First spawned oats to shoeboxes starting on 6//7 and I have havested over 14-pounds wet so far.

What do you guys suggest I do at this point? I took wedges from the second gen plates and put it to agar so I have 8 spawn jars colonizing at like 10% each right now. I was thinking just make more jars, use these when they grow out for LI and make more?
For each variety i'll germ three plates, take three T1's, and toss the germ plates in cold storage. When the T1's mature, i'll take a transfer from each to make three T2's. I'll then use the remaining myc from the T1's to make 3 LC's, and the T2's go in cold storage till i need them. I only dick with two varieties at a time. Simple.

To me these jars look kinda sketchy. I agree that it may be bacteria, but they look acceptable to fruit. Dunno if I'd do a mono with these, but I'd rather do shoeboxes

I agree with Gabbk. Those don't look as happy as they could be. I would probably spawn all to their own shoebox or 2 to each tub. Personally I would not want to go all in on 1 tub with those.
Also is the response box like 10x bigger for anyone else?

The response box was bigger for me when I first switched to the mobile mode but has since gone back to normal.

Thanks, gabbk, Cocaine, and Leafy. I am still hoping to get one tub out eventually. But I am glad that you who know what you're seeing are corroborating my getting-educated gut feeling. I had thought I'd probably do shoeboxes for these Huatla jars. The shoeboxes and 2-qt spawn bins have been treating me well, even with sketchy spawn.
I am getting more hopeful. I got my first couple of cartons of Celltreat petris. I am an instant convert for the extra 17¢; first time after 500 plates that I didn't spazz and opne a bunch.I transfer pretty well, but that means fuck all when I am opening noccd plates in dirty air. I love these. Glad I got a thousand.

Me switching to mobile may have just been coincidence. How long has your response box been large like that?

That's good info, thanks. I wonder if the vent time/heat difference has anything to do with how the thermostat cycles on and off. I have an older 25x and sometimes it works perfect between 17-20, other times I have to babysit the fucker for the whole damn run to be sure it's not going out of control.

Pay attention to how they break up when you go to spawn them. Unless you have been letting spawn sit around and it has time to block up more, clean spawn will just come apart nice and easy with a couple whacks on a tire or roll of duct tape. Look for metabolites. Again if it's had time to block up it's not uncommon to see some liquid at the bottom but if it's freshly colonized and you see yellow drops it can be a sign it's in distress.
Give them a sniff too. Though unless overrun with bacteria it's pretty hard to detect this way, at least for me. Maybe other people have better noses.
The real obvious signs are too white, creamy, blocky, or cottage cheesy. Myc pressed up real hard against the glass is another.
