Thanks, A.k.a. I understand what you're saying but not the meaning of it, if you know what I mean.
What does this portend?
Is that worth transferring, or should I just grab the obviously rhizomatic growth?

Its not true tomentose growth. I would call it fine/linear.  Its 9rganized myc which is what u want.  Rhizo doesnt really matter as many strains that fruit amazingly wont show typical rhizo growth like whats often seen with PE.  Ive had many rhizo plates fruit like shit and vise versa

Whoa, whoa. I actually think that's a pretty cool idea, and one I've been thinking about myself. But I was thinking for resistance against later stage contamination (in tubs), agar isn't going to show results. I recall reading here that someone bred a strain that would resist contam on agar but failed in grain. This endeavor would require using grain jars as the main stage of growth; agar wouldn't be useful except as a genetic repository. On instead of grain jars, unpasteurized agricultural substrates could be the main test arena: dung or straw.

Is the issue that he might be lying? I know his photos are sketch as fuck, but where the rubber meets the road is whether the genetic lines could consistently fruit amid contamination.

Honestly, i hope those are all shit posts and in the end he's gonna show a moldy tub and say of course it didn't work you dummies.

I have been ordering my bags from myers. I was buying those 3T 5-7 lb. bags 300 at a time. They were great. They were a tad thinner than the ones I was buying from shroomsupply but were cheaper. The last box of 300 that I bought from myers, I had to buy the 3TL 6-9 lb. bags because they were all out of the 3T 5-7 lb. bags. I only purchased them because they advertised as being the same thickness as the 3T 5-7 lb. bags.

I have now experienced 50% of my bags popping in the pc. I have had a couple out of 48 pop during my 12 hour atmospheric pressure sterilization for sawdust blocks.

I contacted myers through email and they swear they are the same thickness. If they are the same thickness than why do they look and feel thinner and why all of the sudden am I having issues with popped bags? On top of that, I have to significantly lower my setting on my impulse sealer or else it melts right through the bag.

:mad2: I am just so frustrated to have purchased and am stuck with 300 bags that I cannot use for fear of wasting substrate and grain.

Sounds to me like your old bags were the 3mil and these new ones are the 2mil possibly.

I use the 2mil 3t bags without issue, seems like it may be a bad batch maybe?

Ladysknight, Might be worth a try. If it works atleast it won't be a total loss. Thank you.

Natedawg, the 3T's I was buying from myers say they were the 2.2 mil. I had no problem with those.

I also had to order the 3tl because the backorder.  also thought they seemed a tad thinner, maybe check unicorns specs. I steam all my bags now and I haven't had any problems. Idk how exactly a bag would pop in a steamer without pressure if you got all the air out and sealed it. But I was popping bags all the time in my PC. But I was using propane and not only would it make the sides too hot, but I would get up to like 20 psi sometime ha. Just seamed like to much all around, a big reason why I switched to steaming.
You still have water in your PC I take it? No burnt grains or melted bag, just a pop hole?

I am not sure either but I have ran 48 sawdust bags every week for the past 6 weeks and have not had any issues until I ran the 3TL's this past weekend.

The bags were not melted. No burnt grain. There is always plenty of water left after the pc run. The bags that popped look like they ballooned on a section of the bag where the hole was located. Like I said, I never had an issue with popped bags in a pc with the 3T's. I always press all of the air out of the bags before I sterilize them.

It’s gotta be something the manufacturer did. Maybe with the sudden explosion in mush cult they’re cutting corners right now.

That is a possibility, AKA. If that is the case though, they could have just been honest with me. He sent me pictures demonstrating the bags were the same 2.2 mil thickness and told me I was prepping my bags wrong. I can understand if its out of the vendors hands but atleast be honest about the situation.

I just ordered bags from the vendor I was previously using. So we'll see.

I bought 1000 3TL and they're great. I cut a few inches off the bottom for grain spawn, and I didn't even bother modifying them for masters mix. The only problems I have are with my cheap blue impulse sealer requiring extra force and multiple impulses. I barely just roll the bag and preseal it, although masters mix gets compressed noticeably.

Bummer to hear you have had troubles.

Damn. We must have received different batches or something. You say you cut a few inches off of the bottom? So you cut and than reseal the bottom of the bag?

I drape the sealed bottom over the impulse sealer till it touches the table and make a new bottom seam, then trim off the excess. I have a basic 5mm blue impulse which seals virgin bags great. After the PC with moisture it requires extra effort once I noc and reseal.

My first guess would be excess air in your extra length is causing popped bags, but since I've gotten less anal about squeezing ever last bit o air out I've had 0 problems, but maybe most importantly I roll my bags with the filter patch facing outward. Maybe im just superstitious and it's something beyond my understanding. It works for me:shrug:

Just want to share my excitement. 20-lbs of white millet arrived today.:dancer:
I am curious to see if I get better results from that than from the oats.
I know Josex will smile. Or smirlk.

Still:
Oats    $0.30/lb
Millet    $2.00/lb

AND ANOTHER SPACEBABY QUESTION :eyeroll:

Is this indicative of the shoebox dying of old age, or are the sub surfaces too dry? They have already produced very well and I have I myco-quart of B+ clone and could spawn another shoebox while I prep my new millet.

Either way I shall see how it does inn my friend's compost pile

contam? too dry? stfu and flush?

Thanks, youse. It's weird, my memory is chemo-fried, but I remember the stuff ya tell me.

Then again, I’ve gotten at least 7 lbs wet out of this…maybe 11ish ounces dry. And some of the boxes are still putting out decent sized, pretty fruits.
