Lenz said: If your SAB is closed up there shouldn't really be much chance of plates contaminating. I feel like it's surprisingly uncommon for contams to pass under the lid and over the wall of the plate even when unwrapped-- unless you leave them somewhere super breezy. Regardless I've never really noticed an increase in contams leaving them undisturbed in an SAB for a bit.
And lumps suck but condensation isn't too big of a deal imo. I'd just pour a bit hotter to avoid lumps and leave them unwrapped in closed SAB for as long as you feel comfortable. I feel like keeping them somewhere warmer usually deals with condensation decently too. Or if you like you could store them upside down then dump out the pooled water on the lid as you open the plate in the SAB. I'd feel a little suspect doing that but you could test a few plates and see if they contam.
Either way hard to get absolutely no lumps and no condensation in an SAB without leaving them to evap a little bit IMO/E.
$300 is ridiculous though sheesh you must not be in the U.S.? They're $115 for me on Amazon.
Found a number of different iterations on celltreat site. Selected 100x15 $143/case.
i'm getting ever better results, but I'm still getting needed experience. I went for the celltreat over the karter sci at $45/case for 90x15 because I slip and open the regular ones too often while handling them.
I have been getting some beautiful plates and a fair number that contam. My solution has been to plan for attrition by doing more transfers than I need of any one thing. If I get no better results from celltreat, the next order will be the karter sci.
I'll up the temp on the water bath a smidge. With the water bath, even if the temp is set right, I gotta chek the water level to make sur it is as high as the agar or the part that sticks up cools.

That guy loves bacteria. Let this serve as an example that fancy equipment is not a stopgap for poor technique and ignorance.

98% of them at least, I've found a couple gems over there. "I'm a private freelancer. I usually subcontract research from larger firms. I primarily work in cannabis stem cell and psilocybin extraction research." <-- This is gold

Primal has a thread about experimenting with keeping colonized tubs from fruiting for a month or more to try and increase potency. Letting cakes and stone jars sit forever is common too.
Edit: found it. Thanks for letting us know about it

Snake venom.
you know reddit is in a bad spot when you post very clearly bacterial plates, and get nothing but a round of applause and pats on the back. I love reddit, but not for shrooms!

Everything is worse on FB.
I know good equipment doesn't make good work. I make killer paintings with Lowes nylon brushes and a garden sprayer.
My work is getting cleaner. I think they call it practice.
Speaking of which, is the 'softening' of the rhizomatic growth near the circumference okay? This plate is a clone directly from the stipe:
