I dnt measure coir. I make a bunch to field capacity, storing whatever i dnt use at that moment in a spare tub till i need it. 5qts spawn go into a 66qt tub, then i jst add coir till the sub is the correct thickness. A 6qt shoebox gets 1qt spawn and coir to prime thickness. She like it thick

Hey BB, you ever run strait black oil sfs?

1:2 is standard with clean spawn and will support the most yield. 1:1 is good for slightly bacterial grain so the myc can claim the whole sub faster. Bacterial grain is best in the trash though. More water reserves in the 'sub cake' will support larger/fuller flushes.

I am guessing you are saying you leave them to cool down in the PC for 12 hours instead of taking them out once the PC hits 0. Any rhyme to reason for this? I haven't had this issue when I just tighten the lid once the PC has 0 PSI.

Lenz said: Overnight soak in brew bag and filter patch bags really changing the grain game for me. Packed a single Presto with six 4.5lb bags last night, feels so good to be more than twice as efficient. No popped bags yet over the 3 runs I've done so far which feels goooood, big thanks to Nate and brownbear for their teks on bag prep.
I've been working almost exclusively with LI thus far but I'm gonna switch to G2G and maybe some LC. I'm quite confident in the metal lid+whole SFD setup both for grain and LC so I'm looking forward to getting past this recent mold issue with the plastic lids.
Not sure if I can comfortably G2G bag to bag given that my FFU is only 22" but maybe I'll raise it up on some books or something to get that extra height. Don't mind doing jar to bag but it'd be a little less efficient, not the end of the world.
Already got two bags of AA+ PMG close to 100% colonization and some RW jars on the way as well, looking forward to finally having some fruits again soon.
Also, when you have a metal lid rubber side up with a SFD on top of it and the band, when you remove the band, is it as simple as carefully picking up the lid+SFD to inoculate? Feels weird having my fingers that close to the opening of the jar but I guess I'll just take it slow and keep my fingers more towards the back of the jar and further downstream of the flow, I haven't actually inoculated any of the metal lid jars yet so I'm just tryna make sure I thought of the specifics.
Yeeeaaah dawgy! Welcome to the clubb. If you start popping bags in your presto, add water to the pc. That always fixed the issue for me. I pull off bag to bag g2g in my 23x23 fh, its a little craped but less so if you build a little stand for your bag sealer so when you reseal the bag it keeps air in it. There's some tricksivefound tomake the best out of 2x2' hoods, hmu.
As for the metal lids, fuck the 2 piece lids. You are right that your fingers are way too close to the opening. Get 1 piece metal lids on amazon. Love.

I'm usually only able to do a couple hours in a day. I basically prep and pc one day then do sterile work, spawning, etc the next day.

It is my favorite grain. Curious to see if BB has run them. Boil the shit out of them to get the excess oil out but works like a charm.

I've read numerous avid LC users talking about prepping grain on the dry side (verum and tombosley come to mind)
What does this mean exactly? Just strain until the grain is completely dry on the outside, then bag/jar & sterilize?
I'm not sure what else it could be and that's standard practice for me even being someone who doesn't use a lot of liquids.

You can fan dry the outside of your grain to get the outside dry, the inside of the grain stays moist.

Yes it will work fine. Just be careful about pulling it out of ports too hard so it doesn't slip the needle off.

Sandman - Word. Thnx
Sockadin - Nice. Shit aint growing on mine atm. Was gonna write up a prep tek for them but the kind i get at the nature store on the way home is dirty as fuck. I rinsed and boiled the ever loving fuck outta them, dried great. Jars look perfect. Maybe it was cuz i did them all quick and didn't sufficiently allow my needle to cool b4 inoculating. There was a bit of sizzling and steam with them. Meh..we'll see.

I layered cooked coir on thick like 2 inches without mixing in the spawn. The myc is now poking through but where my fae holes are it looks a bit like mold. Could it just be dry spots? I’m gonna hiit with the h202 anyway

Too much air flow. It is starting to dry out. Tape or plug those holes up with micropore or polyfil to restrict air.

wheat is 1 million times better than oats in my latest findings, i have found a supply of $12 50 pound bags of it locally and in side by side comparison it flew past my oat jars. With more inoculation points as well and they take about 15 mins less to boil, ill never go back. sorry for the ramble, might just go marry this wheat
