Never eat greasy food and then eat shrooms. That is a bad combination. Been there before. I will never do it again.

I wanna run my pressure cooker to cook more agar but I have a 23qt presto, what are you guys using? is it worth buying something smaller for these 2 500mL bottles so it doesnt take 30 mins to reach pressure?

I use a small 6q off brand PC for 10 no-pour 100mm glass plates at a time. (But inoculate 10 quart jars/plate) Not gonna fire up the AA for that.

Jep same thing as ladysknight. Started with a 10 quart PC and still use it for Agar and LC. My stove seems to be weak. Including venting and reaching pressure it takes an hour for the presto.

I think a few of us should get together and start an affordable international cult supply company. It’s still so weird to me that PCs are basically a North American thing.
I think the PC thing here is because canning is a 'farm wife' thing.

So I make my own agar transfer tools. Paperclip bent to punch out agar sections for transfers. I also make sterile swabs like Eat, and I make Skewers out of paper clips for dropping caps into sterile jars for printing and then using those jars to make sterile syringes for BRF cakes.
If you load up your pc with all the sterile items you need you can fill that bastard and make use of the extra space and it dosen't feel like wasted space. It still takes a bit to come up to temp, but you are getting all of the things you need for agar and printing. I also PC empty jars for cap printing at the same time. Similar to Fahtster, but with out the turkey bag.

Hey p9hu7 is back. Good to see ya.
Anybody ever put yeast in their LC? I got 6 that i put a pinch of yeast in and the mycelium is hauling ass balls. Prolly be ready 2mrrw or sat.
Im excited god damnit. Waiting for a batch of sfs to sufficiently dry. Picked up a 5lb sack of millet while i was out this AM. Gonna run some no prep millet in with the sfs in separate jars, so it'll look tits. Cant wait to not have to fiddle fuck with lids doing millet and sfs. Them bitches stick to shit and bounce around all like a damn football never knowing if that shit gonna bounce back in the jar. Been reeeaallll nice with the wheat. Cuts down on sab time drastically.
Fuckin' shit fuck, Sockadin. Didnt realize you were so proficient at mush shit. Good on ya, mate.

I like having a smaller electric one for cooking and pasteurization (it holds 72°C). It's easier to clean and move. But it can only fit one 500 mL media bottle, tilted sideways with some glassware to keep it at 45°. And it's slow since its max pressure is lower. But a builtin timer helps with that. (Be sure the timer can last long enough for your use case.) It might not meet your needs, but I'm pretty happy with mine.
You should be able to save a bit of time without buying a new PC. If you measure how much water gets lost during venting, as pressure-release, and as steam condensation inside any unsealed containers (for heat transfer), you can run it with less water--just don't run out. Heating time is roughly proportional to the amount of water, including water in your grains and bottles. If your stove is electric, you can also put a towel around the PC.

Before I start mixing agar, I put 3-quarts of water up on the stove in the same pot I use to boil the water for my bucket tech and another quart in the pre-heat pot. When I finish mixing up all the new agar in media bottles, I pre-heat the Presto with the first qt, dump in the boiling water, put in the bottles, fill to agar level with HOT water and it doesn’t take more than a couple minutes to be up to venting.
I also put a second trivet on, often, and put things like shot glass, syringes, etc on it to sterilize at the same time.
HTH. YMMV.
