Maybe I will just skip doing blocks. I for sure can't fit a 2x4 or even 2x2 hood. 18x18 is maxing my space.  I was just planning on running some very small blocks to keep a constant rotation of oysters and occasional flush of shitake. To keep just myself in food. Maybe bags will just have to wait untill I upgrade to a bigger place.

Maybe I'll just get a 12x12 and fruit oysters in buckets and shitakes as a cake from unbottled muda bottles. Everything else I grow fruits well in bottles.

third flush of pan cyan - tiny, very tall with myc clots around the stems. Is this a sign that they are missing something?

Not sure how worried I should be about this yellow slime. Just started forming same time knots became pins. Never had it before.

Ok so my control plate 7 days out has zero contamination and the one plate I snapped the spore swab off into is growing mycelium but it just looks different around the left edges of this photo, is this normal looking?  2 plates did contaminate so it's user error, I think I need a rack in my SAB because when I am working with the bottom few plates I am moving funny

Anyone?  Thinking I'll let this go a bit more, make new plates and transfer

Looks OK to me.  Wish I'd seen that sort of thing on the APE swabs I've buried.

Whats up with the scratchy looking area from like 7 to 11 outside the white areas?  I might have tossed good plates thinking it was contaminated it just looks... different....

This plate has some of that same weird look to it

The recipe of agar was 10g agar, 10g LME, 500ml water.  The growth looks peculiar, different from my past using pastys with dextrose, agar, and potato flakes...

Today I wanted to give dog food LC a try but this is what I got when I boiled the dog food

I did 24 grams of dog food to 1200ml water (2% ratio) but that's hell opaque. No way I'm gonna use that
I have honey or brf at home. Which one is better and in which ratios do you use it for LC? (This is my first time preparing LC, and the info at the search bar is pretty untidy at this topic:sad:)

1.How bad was the smell making this?
Also is their documentation on best brand of dog food to use? lol . My guess would be Blue Wilderness...

No the shittiest dog food would be best. Something with a lot of grain and
a ag byproduct filler.

I don't wanna say it's mold, but it's mold.
Or at least it's enmeshed mold.

Understood. The house dog might have an issue with me taking his sweet kibble anyways. Is dog food just considered something useful in a pinch? Is their an inherent benefit in dog food agar/LC?

Wtf....You flick a booger on it?

Hey PrepH, is that a germ plate? If so and you put a drop right there it's prolly cube myc. After it germinates, cube myc looks fairly similar to contaminant fungus and some types of mold.

Why the fuck are yall making dog food agar?

Dog food agar works because shitty kibble is mostly grain and little actual
animal protein. Using cat food would be bad because it's more animal protein

DFA works in a pinch but you could also boil some brf or a potato.

@feasog- DFA is a super old agar recipe for poor folk.

I wish I lived in the States. Here that doesn't exist. Instead we have it in form of syrup, mixed with another simple sugars.
As far as I can be creative here we could use dog food, PDA, honey, BRF and GW. Anything but the most famous and fabulous LME :mad2:
