Sup Guys!? How do these look to you? This is like the 4rd flush and the caps look kinda odd, they have brownish stripes. Pic of a normal one for comparison. Big caps alert

the caps look a little wet to me but i think you’re just getting some fourth flush weirdness too. if you’re going four flushes you’re doing something right, so congrats!
also if you’re wearing gloves to harvest, you def don’t have to. fruiting isn’t sterile

Adrenognome said: So I’m waiting for these caps to open up so I can print them. Tomorrow will be one week since pins formed and I want to know if there is a chance they don’t open up all the way. The fruits on my agar plates did indeed open way up becoming wavy and concave. Here’s the question: Should I harvest and print as soon as the gills are exposed? Or should I attempt to wait an additional 5 days and hope that they don’t drop their load while I’m gone for the weekend? I don’t think spore production will be too heavy and the caps are pretty small.

sorry for the double post, but once they start to open up it’s a matter of hours before spores start coming down. it’s gonna be a purple/black mess if you wait 5 days from now to take prints. i’d take them a few hours from now honestly
looks like the tubs coulda used more FAE

They went like 2 weeks without water (i neglected them hehe), soo, i don´t think it´s wetness
I was wearing gloves that day cause i was picking the bigger ones for cloning, i was moving them right to the SAB as i was harvesting.

Almost finished with a dozen pint lc bottles. Getting bits and pieces in. Almost have my full work area unpacked and ready to roll.
Gonna try pdya colored with charcoal from here out. Anything I should know about charcoal plates before I make some?

ah gotcha, makes sense about the gloves then!
hmm weird. did the fruits smell off at all? i guess it could be bacteria but they don’t look too gnarly to me personally. guess it could be something subtle tho

Sick man! Congrats on the dozen lc´s I made some brf plates with charcoal, used the same recipe for the brf only i added 2 pills of activated charcoal to the mix. Blend, PC'ed and pour. They work like a charm, same as the original recipe with better visualization of contams and myc on the black surface.

I think they smell fine, maybe a lil stronger? but it´s the same shroomy smell as always. Bacteria crossed my mind as well but i never seen them develop on the caps, so i wouldn´t know either haha. Thanks for the response man! Appreciated it.

of course! there is some bacterial infection that can develop on the fruits themselves. i’ve seen pics in one of the contamination threads, but i’m feeling too lazy to search for it right now. one of the symptoms is super slimy wet caps, but i think they usually look a bit more fucked up than how yours look when they are bacterial. if you wanna play it safe, just dry them & use those ones specifically for tea

Vinci/rickomalley - I dnt understand this concept of heavy misting without pooling to rehydrate the sub. If there is no pooling then there is simply droplets on the surface. Which even if the myc sucked it up wud not amount to the volume of water i see missing after floating a sub for 6hrs between flushes. So how is a bunch (heavy misting) of droplets on the surface suppose to hydrate the sub?
Fraci58 - The design on those caps are beautiful. Enjoy!
DrBoomer - D3monic has a plates/agar tek that's thorough and informative. Link in his sig. Im commin up on plate manufacturing time. Gonna smash out the other half of this case of celltreats. Decided imma do a handful of batches with nutritional yeast & charcol.

Yeah I've read d3 write up. I've just always used pda as I can't use mea as a friend has coeliac disease and I myself have a sensitivity to it. I haven't read many people using pdya.

Not droplets, what I meant by not pooling is that you shouldn't see a bunch of surface water moving around. Wetting, but not pooling. And no it doesn't put nearly as much water in the sub as a dunk. In my experience, the sprays are enough for full flushes and the dunking leads to sooner contamination. Of course, do what works for you, but maybe try what works for me.
Ricko, Just one heavy misting per day and leave the lid off for an hour after. 3 days of this.

So i attempted to draw lc out of my LC and fat gobs of myc kept clogging my 18ga needle. What is to be done about this?
Vinci - I respect ya, bud. Your helping me organize shit in my head. Thank you for the clarification. Yeah i do the same things sometimes. If it didnt loose much weight first flush i'll periodically mist till jst b4 pools of water form. At that point the sub has like a film of water on it but no actual pooling. Quite

Swirl more often or add bits of broken glass to break up myc next time.

Yeah when I didn't have anything in my LC to break it up I would swirl steadily clockwise then rapidly switch directions to counterclockwise. The sudden change in the current and the force of the water would usually break things up decently.

I'm having a real hard time growing APEs 4/5 (38 days ago) I made two mini monos of about 1:1 ratio.. all from good nice clean agar, and they fully colonized at the week and knotted at about the second week.. that was good, but it seemed to stunt there, still today it's still the same. They don't seem to be fruiting.. they now with 38 days are getting old but one still seems decent, and the other one has two blotches of bacteria creeping in... Trying to grow this shit is making me waste lots of sub What should I change for the next time? Does grain/sub ratio play a big role with APE? What catches my attention is that these pins won't fruit ..
Edit: I forgot to mention I cased 50/50 Ted'sDead way.. I did it cause I heard it reduces blobbing.. next time I'll try fruiting without casing and see if that was the problem
