Thanks bro. When you say pluck them out--how exactly? Dig my hands through the tub?
The side pins are literally at the bottom of the tub.
you can take another empty tub and put it in the one with the sub then flip it upside down and lift the original tub off so its sitting upside down on the new one then you can easily harvest them off the sides

I had a plate pin in the refrigerator, confirming the lower temps for fruiting, but I have no good sources of what sub composition to use.
Or if it needs high Fae/humidity

Much appreciated--will try this when I harvest the first flush.

Anyone have experience with beech mushroom mycelium? Cube and oyster on grain forms a solid block after full colonization that needs to be broken up. I have bags of beech grain spawn that looks fully colonized but if I lift the bag up, grain kernels easily separate without any effort. Is this normal or did I fuck something up?

Bury tuna or soup cans almost all the way. Slugs will chase the beer and fall in. You don’t need a lot.

Where do you guys store your inoculated plates? I have them in my room where I have a ceiling fan running, is this a problem? They're parafilmed shut but I was wondering, would they be better off in a closet instead?

I doubt it, the air's not any cleaner in there, and it only takes a microscopic amount of contaminates. Definetly wipe them off with alc before usetho.

Hey guys--So happy, I finally harvested my first monotub flush today. Here's my problem, and I was hoping someone could tell me up-to-date information.
1: I was twisting/pulling the mushrooms at first, then saw it was clearly ripping out some of the surface, I then decided to start cutting it, and my result left some big nubs still in the surface--is there anything I should do with these? Will they just mold if I don't do anything, and, by ripping the earlier ones out of the surface, did I damage the monotub for future flushes? What should I do in the future? (pictures down below)
2. To prepare for second flush, do I just close the lid, stop FAE, and let it sit for 48 hours? Is this still recommended today?
Here's the picture of the nubs/current state of my monotub after 1st flush.

Thanks always guys

Ricko, most people dunk after harvest for an hour or so, some people doe 5-12. Thats way too much imo. Cutting off fae is a bad idea too. Fae causes evaporation off the surface, which then causes knotting/pinning/fruiting. My go to after harvest is a heavy spray on the surface (not pooling) and extra fae, 3 days in a row, then back to regular fruiting conditions. As for harvesting, twist/pulling can expose the grains under the casing layer, inviting contamination and unleveling your surface. Cut your stipes as close to the sub as possible so you don't have much of a stub. These lil stubs shouldn't be any issue. Congrats on the flush! Love.

What a helpful response, thank you. I just opened the lid for FAE, and will be misting heavy. I won't dunk it at all. Regarding heavy surface spray, roughly how many times per day (or, as needed, when it seems dry)?

So I’m waiting for these caps to open up so I can print them. Tomorrow will be one week since pins formed and I want to know if there is a chance they don’t open up all the way. The fruits on my agar plates did indeed open way up becoming wavy and concave. Here’s the question: Should I harvest and print as soon as the gills are exposed? Or should I attempt to wait an additional 5 days and hope that they don’t drop their load while I’m gone for the weekend? I don’t think spore production will be too heavy and the caps are pretty small.
