Salt won't deter them unless you go nuts with it and ruin the ground, copper is an old wives tale it dosnt work. You can spread a bunch of DE around the perimeter like some kind of spell circle or put out some saucers of beer. The slugs will drink themselves to death. Gotta be careful with the beer though if you use cheap enough beer you might attract my redneck friends

I wud chop the female end off an extension cord, remove the outer insulation, strip enough of the insulation off the wires themselves to surround your area with either side of the circuit traveling parallel about a half inch apart, wire in a light to one side of the circuit, and plug it in.
Every time a slug goes to slime over them wires it will complete the circuit and fucking explode. Plus your light will flash telling you ya got one.

Not an electrician but, assuming that works completeing the circuit should pop the breaker i think. so it's good for 1 slug?

Because there is a light wired in, it wud be like flipping the light switch. The light provides resistance. You wud want to wire it nxt to the outlet your drawing from of course.

Picked up a product to bait slugs, it's mostly iron and safe to use on veggies, berries, etc. Not sure if it works yet but haven't seen any slugs either.

Hi guys, my monotub is finally growing mushrooms! I just have two questions, please:
1. I see a few side pins growing and really have no idea how to deal with them, I'm hesitant to do some methods like fill the monotub w water and then pluck them, it just seems like it can ruin it. If I just leave them, will they not rot? Any recommendations?
2. The mushrooms might be getting too tall for the monotub so I was considering dub-tubbing it, unfortunately though, the lid is clearer than the box, and I'm worried that the foggy-clear box won't allow adequate light compared to the crystal clear lid. Is this correct?
Thanks always folks

1: they will mold just pluck em out. moldy shrooms usually wont affect subsequent flushes.
2:nah, your good. diffused light is fine. clear lids are not necessary at all

been having some issues with my sterile tek.

the plates i leave out are getting molds near the edges. the solution will be to wrap them after they cool in the flow. i cant just leave them to sit like i would with the sab. also i know not to put anything like my hand between the filter face and open media or at least thats my understanding
i cant imagine i need to flame any more or less than with a sab? or maybe i do because of the blowing air?? ive opened a bunch of jars and a few bags in the flow and they are all tip top. its just the things i interact with. I do gloves and iso but do I need arm protecting with the flow and all?
not everything has gone to shit this is from a later session.. progress i hope.

pointers??

Are your plates down lower than the jars and bags that have been clean??
I’m wild with the ffu and rarely have problems. No gloves, covered in dog hair, all kinds of stuff.
Maybe a section isn’t working right.

Umm...
The blue plates were poured and inoculate on a different work surface. My unit may not have been level so it blew turbulent air? I got a better table a used a balance to make sure its level..
I'll do a go all wild like and see what happens

When you case a jar I like to use slightly above field capacity coir and pack it in a little tighter than I would a shoebox or mono sub. I also recommend packing it all the way to the very top of the jar. Makes it a little easier.
As far as harvesting you could use a flexible knife like a fillet or boning knife it's kind of a bitch. T
I cut up the myc in the jars, harvested the in vitro, and spawned the rest to shoeboxes. Will appy your info te coir hydration and packing on other, future versions. These bottle grows we because of bacterial impact, but coir is cheap, so i’ll see what happens…

Arm sleeves are uneccessary and I use gloves unless I'm out.
Allow plates to solidify in the flow absolutely. Then wrap them or slip the sleeve back over them and fold the bottom flap under the stack and leave them til you use them.
Regardless, dont leave them uncovered with the hood off. I'm sure somebody will say they do it all the time with no issues but it's bad practice.

Yeah I leave my hood on and let my plates cool in the flow. It's an added bonus that it reduces some of the condensation as well.
Anyone every noticed patterns in their blank plates?
I was looking today and under perfect light and angle there's a very subtle pattern in the agar. I assume it's the convection current from when the agar was hot. It looks exactly like contour lines on a topographic map. At first I thought it was a hidden bacteria, but I notice it on plates that I poured like 4 hours previous. And it's much more common on plates I pour when my agar is hotter than normal. I really dunno what it is for sure though

Thanks bro. When you say pluck them out--how exactly? Dig my hands through the tub?
The side pins are literally at the bottom of the tub.

Usually the sub will have shrunk a bit on all sides and you can tilt the tub to push the sub fully onto on side and then pick the side pins with the extra space you've created, repeat on all sides obvi. Tweezers are nice too. If you can't reach them at all right now just wait until after your first flush to try and get them.

You guys aware Starlink is delivering 300Mb/s at sub 20ms? And getting faster with each weekly launch. A friend has it. Installation easier than most teks here. They took it into the forest and into the desert (violates TOS but no flags). Under a minute to boot up and lock in, automatically. $499 for the equipment then $99 a month.
Thanks DFK. I just signed up for space interwebs!
