If so then it pulled a vacuum. I have a 915 also and it definitely pulls a vacuum
I don't think my gussets seal at all, definitely not at the mouth. Not even close. The bottom layer always looks great though, gussets sealed all the way to the mouth of the bag. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've tried several different folding and packing arrangements, so next time I'm going to try sandman's tip and flipping the toggle vent at 0psi and pulling out while warm. Though I hope to eventually find a reliable method that doesn't involve any babysitting so I can continue running my PCs while pre-occupied.

Yeah idc if the unit pulls vacuum, just my bags. Mine aren't sealing and all my test bags go bad within a month. Are you gussets sealed when you take your bags out? Is the mouth of your bags airtight essentially?

(Here in South America it's nearly impossible to get it, it's extremely expensive. But instead I can get a similar fabric, a non woven polypropylene fabric called "friselina". I'll try with that material if it's necessary to fill the bag with something)

I was having issues with bags popping, and helped the issue. Several people don't use a sleeve but I dig it. You can try without and see if you have the same issue I had before investing in anything else.

Look at my tek and youll see that even my prestos form a seal capable of allowing me to have a bag sit shelved for 4 months before nocing up and growing a tub.
Canners definitely pull a vacuum, not sure where the idea that they dont comes from

I think he meant the canner itself doesn't pull a vacuum like an AA, not the bags.

With folks still having problems with bags popping and such even with atleast one tek out there. Perhaps it would be beneficial to the community if I put out my own bag tek. I don't prep my bags the same as anyone else, that I know of, and I have zero bag problems.

Vacuum forms in both. In my aa915 I cant even remove the lid after it hits 0psi if I dont take the weight off because the vacuum it pulls wont let you

Do it!
I've run near 500 bags since writing that tek with no issues so not sure why people have problems with it probably something small that I just always do and others might not be doing. Not sure

I think this is true for anyone that does a write up.. something we do that’s so second nature that it’s not even thought of while writing the method down.. like snapping your fingers before picking up a scalpel or something lol.. I don’t even know if that’s a thing but it’s the first thing that my brain said to me haha

Agree good numbers. We are talking volume correct? It is basically around 30% by volume (5/5+12)vol% or 5 parts spawn to 12 parts sub. I'm going to exploit this ratio as best I can next time.
Thanks for discussion!

I have tried prepping bags other ways but they always seemed to be hit or miss for me. I always just chalked it up as operator error. With all of the folks in the community that use bags, other methods, I know, are just as solid as mine. Like natedawg said, "probably something small". So I will write it up in hopes of helping atleast a few people out.

PrimalSoup said: SB, you showed a decent jar a little while back, what happened to that one? Those in the long list of pics all look pretty well toasted to me.
edit: why, it's the uneven colonization. The pics aren't clear enough to see the detail.
edit2: some of them have obvious mold, but look how the myc seems to be avoiding the grain in places, like it's trying to outrun some kind of shit on it. Never a good sign.
Thanks, Primal,
The jars are now so yesterday...I'll shoot some with the 100mm macro...
Jar 1 was the one that looked good. Jar 2 has nothing that NobEyes recognized as a problem. Today. Jars 3 through 7 I noted under each set of pics where I thought the dx criteria for bacteria were met. Though they still look comopromised, they look better today.
When I get some new pics I'll ask you about where the molds are...
If there's just bacteria, I'm going to try going to individual shoeboxes for each quart...with 2-quarts of coir each, if I remember. I can always search that. I think it was A.k.a. who suggested trying to fruit in the jars or separarte shoeboxes. RN I have crazy in vitro shrooms in most of the bottle-tek-like jars.

How's that thing about PC's holding a vacuum? I don't think my AA holds a vacuum and I doubt any pressure cooker/canner can.
My thinking is that if a vacuum was formed, I'm pretty sure I would be hearing a hissing sound when I take the weight off the next day when the PC has cooled down. The hissing sound that produces any vessel that is holding a vacuum the instant you release it, it sucks in air from the outside and it can be heard easily.
I hear nothing at all when I take the weight off and I don't think the weight of a rocker would be enough to hold a vacuum anyway.
