Cross-threading. I thnk that's what yall are talking bout. To avoid it i place the lid on the jar, apply a bit of pressure, and spin counter clockwise (loosen) till i hear/feel the threads seat properly, then tighten.
Nice box dude You harvest whenever you damn well please, but if the fruits aren't crisp/stiff anymore, it's time.

SB, you showed a decent jar a little while back, what happened to that one? Those in the long list of pics all look pretty well toasted to me.
edit: why, it's the uneven colonization. The pics aren't clear enough to see the detail.
edit2: some of them have obvious mold, but look how the myc seems to be avoiding the grain in places, like it's trying to outrun some kind of shit on it. Never a good sign.

What do you guys think the best bulk to spawn ratio is? I found that if I use about 4 mason jars half full with colonized WBS then I get a better flush than if I use 7. Too much spawn and I think there is not enough food. Substrate is usually one pasteurized oven bag full of horse manure (about 4 inch depth in that bin in my sig) Even if they are all fully colonized perfectly. See my signature for a look at my setup.

2.5:6 spawn to sub ratio with 1 quart top layer works best for me when growing cubes in a 15 quart tub.

Yea. Yea. Yea
I was using a true 1:2 but I got better effeciency when I cut it back 2.5:6. I actually went from pulling 1.5 oz dry per qt of spawn to pulling 2.15. Could just be a coincidence but I didn't see the point in going back.
Edit: I guess it would be better to say 1.25:3 than 2.5:6.

5:12 gets nice round numbers.

Yea I know what you mean, it has happened to me too. Sometimes it feels like the ring has catched the threads but it doesn't, you have to make sure you did it right
I hear you. Sorta realized when the pooch got screwed that actually I was the [ir]responsible party.
I do, however, still have one Josex Poke LC that isn't obviously fucked.
This is a very BAD hobby for an obssessive madman.
If memory serves, as it rarely does, you don't do much oats, right? Not the guy to ask about the billion jars photos I posted...

Serious question. Are round numbers what we are looking for when typing ratios?

Na, you just don't know what you're talking about. Stop. Part of the issue with this hobby over the years was too many people that didn't know what they're talking about so confidently spewing garbage confusing new users.
You are wrong. You should feel bad.

yeah, they're easy to remember. 5:12 could be the new 1:2 especially if it ups the output.

You are very wrong. Oats are great, such as any other grain if you prepare it correctly.
