don't forget about access to the porn & computers and programming forums! super high tier stuff right there
for real tho, unlimited picture uploads is a godsend. supporting the site in general is just a good thing, as it's an amazing resource w some great people on it
also, so is overly wet grain prep generally a cause for bacteria? i'm not talking absolutely soggy but even just slightly? it would make sense, i just thought PCing would take care of stuff that wasn't aggressively soggy.

It's not a cause but of there is bacteria hidden in the innoculant it will multiply more rapidly.

right on, yeah that definitely makes sense. though, the best solution would still probably be to just start with clean inoculation

Bacteria hides really well in water, even through a PC cycle.

that's interesting. so you reckon bacteria can be within the jars prior to even cracking the lid to inoculate? (given correct grain prep and a PC cycle)

I don't know, I've had oat bags I made 6 months ago and they're still perfectly fine, just a little dry.

oats seem particularly prone to it. i’ve had a bout of bacteria lately & i was beginning to think i was getting a little too lazy with my oat prep

Yes
Well, that makes me feel like less of a dweeb. The SAB I did the first MSS2A and subsequent A2A was difficult to work in with small, more-prone-to-contamination arm holes. And I did have tremors. The aspergillus sucks, but I now break everything down and clean up and then set up for new work. Hopefully, that will help. I live in a crazy humid place.
I love my new SAB, but skill comes with experience.
I mean here's a couple of very happy A2A plates and my best colonizing plate of the 'Superbad' clone in between them.

No matter. Wanting expertise is the first step.
FURTHER STUFF:
When I finally get the fucking coir to field capacity, I'm going to put the 4 best of the bad GT and Malabar in their own nomod tubs. I can immediately start new grain this evening.
I think I'll put them in a bathroom, with the door closed, away from the lab room in case there's some sneaky pernicious mold lurking. I'll be able to disinfect that room more easily than anywhere else in the house. And the tubs will be quarantined as best as possible. There are still bacterial rifts, but the jars are pretty well consolidated. I'll fruit in the jars.
Here're two each. You've seen these before but this is as of May 24, 2021 3:40 PM.
I can see baterial segmentation [right word?] in places, but if there ain't mold, maybe I'll be able to harvest something while I continue with other projects.
Any of you see mold?
GT

Malabar

Maaan, I really love you, man.

Never ran oats. Ive noticed it with WBS @ 90min PC cycle. Discoloration will start growing out of wet sunflower seeds. At this point i PC grain for 2hrs, no exceptions. Whether or not that wud completely eliminate the issue, i cannot say. Havent run any wbs since. Enjoying mine wheat.
Edit: There is a discussion over in PicOfTheDay i'd like to have head this way. As futile as it is with the variability of human experience and myc cultures; Im hearing half say RW are top 5 strongest cubes, and the other half say RWs are normal potency.
Nobody says PE or Ape are normal potency lol Im hearing Melmak has PE potency. Makes sense. Im hearing that TAT is some potent shit. Must knw more.
Im most curious what rates directly under the PE varieties for potency. Looking for normal fruiting time, no casing, exceptional potency.
Wat say yall?

Based solely on the name I'd say overhyped mushroom that fails to deliver.

Yeah that's why you don't judge something only by its name lol Have you seen the mushrooms? It's his PE+TOC cross, looks pretty damn cool and produces awesomely.

I've been growing Rusties for a few months now and they're fantastic. I personally don't think their potency is anything to write home about, but they definitely lack the anxiety aspect that I pick up on a lot of other cubes. They're also very easy to cultivate IME, I always do Eat's tek of spawning with a 'pseudo casing', my tubs are ready in 14-18 days from spawning (1 brick coir, ~3 quarts verm, ~3200g water, 5 quarts spawn) and then they fruit in ~5-10 days. I've had a range of looks from them, including sporeless tubs. I love 'em overall, they always grow tomentose, but the substrates grow very dense and I can harvest without taking off huge chunks of the substrate, but without needing scissors.

Keep 'em high and tight guys....

I'm sure he came up with something neat, but the name is a hard pass for me.

I am intrigued by this "Trump Dick." Does it require casing or abnormal fruiting time?

speaking of rustywhytes, i spawned some multispore from a print that was definitely rustywhyte. i am about 99.9% certain i didn’t mix up any spawn jars either, but this tub turned out completely normal save for a few white mushrooms. weird. can bacteria cause this kind of reversion?

also i think these fruits are a bit on the small side because i didn’t have enough water in my coir at spawn
