Anyone else feeling this coir shortage?
Nogoodnamesleft warned me.
I ordered a bunch of 5kg blocks from the hydro store but they're backordered about 12 weeks.
Going to pull the trigger on a bunch of eco earth for the time being I guess.
Anyone have a good recommendation for a pallet of coir?

Maybe it's cause of all these people buying a pallet at a time like you! Nah probably cause of covid hitting the source countries etc. I just got 10 blocks last trip and they had plenty more.

If you have a TSC near you, they sell corncob horse bedding pellets. You can get a 40lb. bag for under $10. It is mostly lignin and cellulose just like coir. My subs are 60% corncob/40% coir and have great results. If nothing else, it will help stretch your coir a little further.

I can find coir around here, but I'm going to start playing with poo soon as it is free and abundant. The neighbors have a few donkeys that just plop it all day, plenty of aged poo just sitting around.
Also interested in poo as I'm assuming the higher nutrition would up the potency. Has anyone come across info on this?

Do you gotta pasteurize it? Or just field capacity?

I would also like to know if you could add canola to oats. I prefer oats but not sure if you could just toss the canola in for a 30 minute hot soak like oats.

I only ordered 40 blocks, a pallet is 200...
But I suddenly need a pallet

I'll check out TSC. Are you using 400g corncob horse bedding pellets/ 250 g coir/ 2 qt verm/ 4 qt hot water?
I'm curious what your recipe is.

I would like to see people who are adding a bit of canola to their grains post results afterwards. There's nothing wrong with sunflower seeds but they do contain a lot of stuff cubes don't use but woodlovers do, lignin I think? Can't remember. They're oily but I don't know which fatty acids are in the SFS, there's some in my birdseed mix.
Also, fuck corn and take it out of everything.

Hehe One of these days i'll run a batch of pure black oils. Knock it up with APE. The contrast will be stunning. Plus i'd like to get a procedure down for sfs. Havent ran enough to get use to it. Mycelium seems to luv 'em though.
Now that im moving to LC im looking back into millet. I despised it cuz them little white bastards stuck to everything. The mitigating circumstances did not outweigh the million inoculation points it provided. But if i dnt gotta open a jar to inoculate then hells yeah.

Starbones - Corn is not that bad, dude. I was being a bitch about it till i realized that i dry wheat for 2hrs. That's the only issue ive had so far, was the drying time, but trial and error is a great teacher.

I aint all uppity about corn/sfs, although i may do a batch of the mix one day. I prefer wheat or rye berries. The possibility of adding a handful of rapeseed to the mix to mega boner the myc sounds like it might be cool. It's on my list right after i see if myc will grow on dehydrated/pc'd acorn squash But we'll see what happens after i start fucking wit LC. I have a feeling imma go back to wbs or strait millet.

dunno about hpoo increasing potency (i donβt think it does, at least not noticeably, bc if it did i think many more people would use it on here) but thereβs this thread on longer consolidation times potentially increasing potency https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15181139/fpart/1/vc/1
nothing concrete but interesting nonetheless

First Botanicare cocogro got dropped. Then my dude had mother nature, some growit, and now this root royale. Seems as long as I break it down and pour hot water on it they are all good, although I didn't fuck with the grow it. If I don't chip the block down it hydrates but into wet mush.
Maybe mr mush is talking 650g blocks, I'm talking 5kg blocks. 200x5kg is a really large amount...

I've been using this shitty coir that I found on the zon. It went out of stock and never came back.

I switched to another shitty dirt cheap brand. Havenβt used it yet. There's a feather in it...

That cant be good lol
I know you guys hate to see it but I'm on that composted manure + verm train .... properly pasteurized patent pending.
Why? Because of the microoooobes maaaaaaan. They are called BENIFICIAL for a reason! Plus it's fun and I have property, and hydrating coir and spawning it so boring and basic.
