I definitely want a FFU. I built my own FH with a 24x24 filter and although I am happy with results and haven't had a contamn since, I really want my unit to be more shallow and have more space on the work table.

this guys got handles and i can lift it with 1 hand.
i do want to install better brackets that mount the filter to the unit they are kinda cheap. but with an upgrade it would make the ffu super mobile

So a whole bunch of new shrooms Iโve never grown before kinda fell into my lap. Iโm having trouble finding information on this variety called โDestinyโ. Had anyone heard of it or have experience with it?

Oats haven't done me wrong but it could just be that I haven't used anything else and haven't experienced what makes other grain better. My oats do look fucked sometimes though. Some of the ones up against the glass see condensation and look wet where they're touching the jar. Sometimes I'll see a few that you can see myc sticking out of but the hull is uncovered.

Does anyone have proof that their substrate bruised from handling and direct misting rather than dry conditions and/or contaminations? Been looking for someone who has experience with handling bruising on a sub, and it wasn't because of conditions. Personally I haven't ever seen any bruising from anything but dry conditions, yet every noob says you can get bruising from handling.
Just finger print size blue spots and were I pick the mushrooms off. Also were the rack touches the blocks if I move them. Mostly after dunking.
I bruise bare, birthed blocks of manure in a martha.

Iโve for sure had my fingerprints bruise onto a sub before.
Why the fuck would people talk shit about ffus??
It does the same thing right.
Easily the best cult accessory Iโve used.

There was just a misconception years back about whether ffus were actually capable of laminar flow. They are mostly used as ceiling inserts for clean rooms.
They work great. Had I known about the 2x4 from myers for 750 before I built my 2x3 I would have bought it for sure. I do love my 2x3 though

Personally I find 2' tall hoods too short to "properly" utilize free-poring in bags without getting close to the upper air boundary. You really should be lifting everything off the work table with a rack to prevent a back current of room air pulling up the back of your bags.
You can see a 30" tall filter gives you a comfortable amount of room to work over the bags without having to fuss with them.

Eh 2' is fine in my experience. I've never had a problem free pouring to bags in front of it and I run A LOT of bags.

Posted this in another thread too, but Iโm just so dang excited about it I wanted to share with folks who might not monitor that one.
I got an albino Melmak fruit out of a T2 plate from Quirkโs big giveaway in December.
Now itโs cloned, and Iโm hoping I can fruit it out and stabilize it, but Iโm not seeing any evidence of spores from this fruit. Weโll see!

Went a nifty blue from my rough handling of it.

Hell yeah!
Albinos have clear spores so youโll have to swab and streak to try it unless you look under a scope.

Guys I think I have actually sentient, and quite intelligent culture. It's doing stuff on agar I've never expected.
First it fruited from a kernel over some bacteria.
Sporulating in the other end of the dish.
Then it reclaimed the fruit.
Then it grew from the other side, and sent ANOTHER pin, up into the air filter. Almost to disperse spores into there.
This culture is called "R98" from a series of grain, but it's going to be renamed RW Brainiac cuz this myc sporting IQ

hi all just a question I haven't been able to find answered in search. I've grown lots of cubes but I'm going to run some galindoi on rye Berrys for sclerotia for the first time id also like to fruit for prints. could I use the left over grain after truffle harvest to fruit? or should I just run extra jars specifically for fruiting? also is there any real need to mono culture these or just clean it up and run it? I plan on fruiting from cased grains in shoe box. does all this sound good to you experienced stone growers? appreciate any relevant links thanks guys and ladies..

Check out the official stone producers thread.
But yeah you can dig the stones out of the jar and then spawn the grain.
Imo itโs much more productive to spawn the grain ASAP. Then you get the more potent fruits plus stones grow much faster in tubs.

Oh im sure that given the interest and enough time i cud figure out how to process my own rectal snot into viable spawn. Jst not terribly interested. Actually that tri colored corn i ran seems to be doing fine.
Trips me out how fast mold/fungus will germinate and grow on gourds. I keep thinking about how i can incorporate this acorn squash i got on my counter into a batch. Guess i wud have to dice it up raw then dry it almost completely b4 pc'ing. Or i cud chop it up and boil it for a while b4 adding the grain so that the grain soaks up the acorn water.
