Thanks. I was confused how my jar of Rye grain came out of the PC and sat on my shelf for a few days (without being noc'd) and it started to go bad, didn't even open the lid.

I dump them out, wash with dawn and reload with grain and go. If there's a chance if anything left the PC will kill it.

If it's mold you can submerge the jar in water before you open it, so you don't breathe the mold spores.

Grain soak agar licks testicle sack. Tries it a couple of timez but getting nute content correct is a bizatch and the growth on grain soak plates looks fucked. Only.seems good.for.selecting a culture that iz fast on said grain.
Making dub tubs atm. 6qts were cheap, and my town has kinda abolished them one use plastic grocery bags.

I tried a bag of it. It took atleast 45 mins boiling to get hydrated. That was my main gripe.
I know a guy that swears by it, not my jam though

Sounds shitty. Milo doesn't soak up very much quick from a simple hot soak. I just prepped 60 jars and I'm a bit unsure if they will colonize well. Corn is just the cheapest option I've seen so I wondered if any budget crunchers may choose it for cheap spawn.

I jst tried a run of whole corn and fuck that. There is simply no need to go thru that much trouble to prepare it. Brownbear seems to be quite happy with it though. I wud ask him for advice on it. Sayz corn/rice mix is his "go to." Stick with wheat or rye homie. If your feeling fancy, go for some of that egyptian wheat lol

I don't use whole corn. I use popcorn. I just boil the shit out of it for 40 minutes with the lid on. Then I turn off burner, add whole grain rice and let it sit another 15-20 minutes before straining and drying. It can be a bit starchy so if you are using jars, don't add the rice. It might make it difficult to shake.

Oh I'll be sticking to wheat for sure. Just finishing my last oats in the AA75X now, just cause I had a 50# laying on the shelf. Still got 50# of Milo and then some misc millet and rolled barley probably gonna turn the millet and barley into some sort of gourmet block supplement.

Fuckin' A right. Jst took 9 jars of hard white off the heat.
I aint knocking Brownbear in any way. He gets shit done and his work looks clean af.
For myself im convinced at this point that wheat & rye berries are bee's motherfuckin' knees. Quality and price are consistent and stable. I can see when my shit is thoroughly cooked and it doesn't take very long to dry on my counter with a fan blowing over it. I do feel better pcing for 2hrs instead of 90min. Bit of extra time well spent there.
Fuck...i need to order me another sack. Thnx for the reminder, Quirk!

after playing with my new unit for a bit some things dawned on me..

ffu's are awesome. reading back into shroomery history it seems like people who built/bought purpose built ones took offense at ffu and bad mouthed them over and over. more on that later
2x2 is big but not big enough
my wife is gonna learn to prep grain
i ned more grain
i need more pcs.

Oats can fly into the sun where they belong. And yep on that, I had a chance to snag a nice big FFU for a song off ebay but the idea of an FFU got poo-poo'd. I love my flowhood but I look at it like those janky DIY stirplates when you can buy something purposebuilt for less fuckery.

I think if you've been growing mushrooms more than a year every grain should be the bee's knees.
