Just dump water down the sides, let it sit for a day and pour off any that didn't absorb. If it absorbed it all you could do it again if you really wanted. I never do anything else.

Oh yeah, as long as it's after the first flush and you havent watered it b4, you can side water to float the sub at this point. B4 the first flush fux shit up bad. If the majority of fruits that first pinned have matured, that wud be an MS flush.

Anybody find a difference between seed wheat and feed wheat? I was told seed wheat has something to make it grow better. What do you guys use, seed or feed?

Yeah, my wheat is pretty clean. I don't even rinse it. I throw it in the pot and turn on the burner. I think it's $14.99.

Come to thnk of it the bag of wheat i got was damn clean. Also the popping sorghum and the corn. The sfseeds got all kinda shitass in them. Mostly stalks and dried leaf shards. Myc seems to colonize it fine, so fuck it.
I have this acorn squash on my counter i was gonna eat but im trying to devise a way to mix it into spawn.

Unless it's a bunch of cracked grains, like my recent millet bags, then so long as you properly hydrate your cereal the cleanliness should be an issue.

When it comes to grains yeah there's some key differences between varieties of the same type depending on their grade. Oats to be made into flour are hard and will boil well in Bods tek, oats that are close but no cigar same idea. True feed oats will turn to absolute mush. Oats meant for flour need to have a hardness to them and lower oil content where as feed oats can go to the moon.
The problem is all oats can be feed oats but not all oats can be flour oats which causes all sorts of bullshit I've found because I'll get a few bags that boil well and hydrate nicely then a month later from the same grain supplier I'll end up with the soft oiler bastards. I gave up on oats for this reason and use WBS mainly, wheat if I can but only if it's hard red wheat. Which in my opinion preps far better than the stuff I've tried in the summer.

I never noticed a difference amongst oats, just a difference in the variables under my control like prep and culture quality. At this point I just do a boiling hot soak for everything except millet which I've deemed not worth the hassle and cost. Wheat is so small and convenient, ive had winter and seed recently, totally worth the extra cost, and practical to run solo making everything very streamlined.
Um I got some nasty cobweb or something on 2 tubs. My coir prep felt all over the place recently running different brands as well as I think the temp of the water was cooler with the tubs prepped last in each round cause shit didn't all fluff the same. The subs seem to be colonizing ok besides this crap on top.

For those who use distilled water for your autoclaves: do you save your water after finishing the session for next time or do you just throw it out? Each time I need to use the autoclave I have to buy a 5 liter bucket, and its consuming me some money that stacks over time .. There's always 2 liters remaining or so after each cycle, so I was wondering if I could reuse it and not fuck up or rust the AC. Any tips?

I stick to distilled and reverse osmosis water as my softened tap water eats holes in PCs. Galvanic corrosion. I clean the water out depending on whether it's colored and dirty. Usually I just top it off.

The amount of money I'd spend on distilled water would quickly outweigh the cost of a new Presto. If I was using an AA sure, maybe but so far so good on the corrosion, lots of discoloration as oxidization takes place and some burnt on shit at the bottom but that's about all.
Could always get an undersink RO system designed for post treatment salt removal from water softener use. Or throw a bunch of activated charcoal in a coffee makers filter basket and just use that, whatever salt is left behind after being turned into steam should get fucked on the charcoal, descale the machine every once in awhile with CLR, I guess I dunno.
Buy a still and make your distilled water that way, moonshine when you're not using it for that. Win win.

I ruined 2 prestos and a 3rd is looking like a golf ball. #4 is almost pristine. water is between 40 and 80 cents per gallon and one gallon gets multiple runs complete typically. I pay $1-2/L for artisanal water to drink. Icelandic glacial is my favorite.
You're correct about installing an undersink unit tho, but meh

I love my under the sink RO. Express Water Ion kit is like 150 bucks. Well worth it and super easy to install.
I still get high DS readings but you can't remove everything I guess. My PC runs have been way cleaner ever scince I switched. I just need to find a stainless steel cookie rack for the bottom.

I should probably look into that too.
My pc looked like a rusty stew after the last run. Wiping down the jars for the hood the paper towels came off orange
