Problem I'm finding with edibles is that in my market there's already people doing it which sucks. That and humidity for open air fruiting bags and such. I would want a purposebuilt room just for that to avoid my house rotting to the ground.

I've been toying with the idea of marketing mushroom chips, or mushroom jerky using dried fruits but there in again what I could do there with something I grew at home there are big producers of agarics that could produce far more biomass for such things.

Mushroom chips are great though, I suggest you try em.

I found a guy who wanted to buy a lions mane spawned to a glass terrarium for. 2-300$ to market his alternative health products. Other growers I know apply for Jobs in the mushroom food industry, but the pay there sucks in my country.

So if anyone has a LM print, they are red listed in my country

What do you guys think about being in the political arena as and trying to make change legally surrounding entheogenic healing medicines while growing mush at home simultaneously. Does that sound like a disaster waiting to happen? Should I find another forerunner in my community? I want to get it decriminalized so my wife is willing to try them. She fears having our kids taken away, but knows she would benefit from them. She has no prior experience with shrooms but suffers with depression and wants healing. I know this might not be the place for this, but I really want to get her the help she needs. Should I not grow while getting petitions signed at the courthouse, or just say fuck it...

I'm waiting for legalization here so I can buy a farm and start pumping out actives to supply to the first dispensaries

Fuck I missed this thread, always my favorite place to get some interesting reads.

Yeah putting yourself out there can be dangerous if I were to guess. You would become a target for the one's wanting to oust people like us. However change always comes from the people willing to put their thoughts and ideas out there. Become one of our martyrs! :mushroom2:

I'm on the idea that tiptrippy has. All of this work we put in now will blossom into a career if you're into that. I'm saving up money to move to Colorado and buy some land there. The weed industry there is to hard to get into now but the shroom industry is a-comin. If you can setup a farm and be one of the first to put some PE in the market or some exotics that's going to skyrocket you in the customer base that would start. Word of mouth is powerful.

I'd love to get into the edible market as well. If you can hit both of those at the same time all in one place it would be a good time. Once I get a place where I can put a nice tent i'm going to start lions mane and oysters and would like to try reishi as well.

Makes sense that the cannabis industry is a good indicator of how shroom legalization will play out. Wonder if the transition will be as messy as cannabis was, at least in places like California. I remember there being a lot of sorta legal gray zone dispensaries and the regulatory process around them seemed to take at least a couple years to hash out.

I'm talking out of my ass so anyone feel free to correct me but I'm super keen to see how this will work out. Also wonder how many gourmet growers are looking to enter the psychedelic market and how much big corporate money is preparing for it as well. I imagine it has to be a lot and that nate is very on the money about the barriers to entry.

Oh shit, sweet. I was thinking downstairs was the way to go but I’ll try outside instead. I don’t have any straw on hand, so I guess I’ll just toss them in a nice spot and see what happens. I’m supposed to be getting some rain tomorrow too. Fuck it. Thanks for the advice dude :jah:

The straw is just to limit surface evaporation, keeping the tubs from drying out. You can use mulch, leaves, whatever.

Rain is good, just dump the water out first chance you get.

A small shade tent is perfect to keep the sun and rain at bay.

Rumor has it the big agaricus farms in PA are providing much of the funding to lobby for legalization.
The second the law changes they'll be growing more than every member of the shroomery combined.

Sheesh, locality probably won't be as important either because most product would be sold dried and could be transported all over the place without a drop in quality.

And yeah I feel the same way Feaso, feels like it'll be so cutthroat lol, it's a bummer.

I'm pretty sure all plastic lids come with the separate sealing gasket, some don't come with one at all.
I don't think many of us even use the gasket. I use unmodded kids like pasty

I'd love to get into the gourmet market but in my area is all rednecks who think a yeunling black and tan and a portabello burger are the height of a cultured meal.

I'd have to drive about 45 mins to a larger cities farmers market and it already has 2 mushroom stands. There's always the dried medicinal market but that pretty saturated. To even hit the costs those guys do I'd have to invest a ton

I just called around to a bunch of restaurants and asked to speak to the chef.

Farmers markets too and CSAs are great.

One thing I know for sure is that getting into the legal active mushroom industry
will not be easy. The cannabis industry was like the wild west and lots of kinks have been worked out since.

Maybe you got the grayish ones that are air/water tight. The white Ball brand have lasted me who knows how many cycles without warp or issue, no gaskets. Cranked tight still allows GE.

I just turned it up like all the way to heat it up with a bunch o bags and i could feel like a small click once I turned it up and now it doesn't turn at all. I did blow the stop cock safety and wasn't sure what to do so shut it down. Got an hr deep in the green zone by turning the unit of and on a couple times, but I doubt 7 fat bags of wheat gonna be done enough.

I have a hell of a lot to say about all this you said. Unfortunately I can't say what I think/know until I have proof to show to people (working on it), otherwise they can say stuff like I'm spreading misinfo and that kinda shit. In a nutshell, it's not all about getting clean cultures, that's imo/e the easy part of the hobby, by far.
However it's  not so easy to get clean spawn and there's a fat reason for that most people just seem oblivious of.

i'd love to hear your thoughts on this as i'm clearly missing whatever fat reason clean spawn seems so hard to come by sometimes lol. it's always seemed weird to me that my agar plates don't contam & my grains don't either, but going a2g seems to be a crapshoot in terms of bacteria. my sterile technique probably isn't perfect all the time, but i very rarely get contams on my agar plates after transfers or in my jars after a PC cycle while bacteria will crop up again & again after an a2g

i cannot wait to hear your full thoughts... i trust that you've got a good hunch & i could clearly use some enlightenment lol

I find cubes more difficult than most commercial edibles honestly. Lions mane and reishi grow themselves. Oysters are dead simple too.

Most difficult commercial edible in my opinion of all the ones I've grown is shiitake
because it takes FOREVER and benefits greatly from a cold shock which is hard
to do with a lot of blocks when you dont have a big fridge.

6 shelf rack, some plastic, a humidification source, and some dialing in makes a great grow tent for a small time unit.

Mu 1st edible gh circa 2016:

Managed to grow enough to supply a couple restaurants in town. Totally doable just to start up even with limited space

i've been thinking about growing edibles for some side money. currently doing my first runs just for my own food source/learning, but eventually i think it would be cool to branch out. i've seen some of your other posts about getting into that industry & it's been inspiring. it can seem really intimidating to get into, as i felt like i needed to be a full time huge op to be able to reasonably sell any mushrooms, so thank you for your posts making it seem doable.

On second read it wasn't the stopcock pooping, but the steam release doodad did flip itself and dump some pressure before i flipped it back and let it cool. In any case they're probably gonna get a quick run through the prestos assuming they didn't pop or something. Im gonna call All American in the morning. Just terribly disappointed after getting home from abandoning my car.
