Does anyone tape or wrap their EZ dial tubs to avoid drying around the side holes during colonization?
Filthyknees and I had talked about wrapping the tubs with saran/cling wrap until colonization was complete to avoid drying.
I've considered adding a humidifier to the grow room as the entire point of the EZ dial tub is set and forget.
Trying to find a solution to avoid taping and/or wrapping hundreds of tubs for the first 10-14 days.

My first thought is MP tape tubs but then i'm in the same boat. Cutting, taping, cutting, etc...

I do with masking tape, was thinking of trying MP though for a little more breathability though and to avoid water pooling at the edges of the liner. The tape helps my pinsets and surface conditions a lot otherwise it does dry out a bit right around the holes and I remove the tape once pins come in.
It's not that annoying for me since I'm only running like 25 tubs max but for that many tubs a humidifier might be worth it? Maybe someone else can speak more definitively to that.
Also, are you the dude who is running those little plastic bag type deals in a martha set up? Has it been going well for you? Trying to scale up pretty soon and would rather avoid having to purchase and handle a bunch of tubs.

Anyone have a good martha or greenhouse tek to read? I'd like to see some martha porn.
I bought a 1 disk fogger, inkbird controller, 120mm water proof fan, 4 shelf green house, and a dog kennel pan. I'm gonna build a humidibucket and try running the fan at 20 % 24/7

I got the covid while the site's been down Not too bad really, has felt like a bit of a cold. Only thing that has sucked has been the fatigue, it's even tough harvesting tubs! I'll get done with one or two and feel like I need to go lay down...Luckily that's starting to ebb away! Was able to clean 11 tubs that were dirtied up while I was on vacation 2 weeks ago...Gotta do another 13 tomorrow

I'm using masking tape as well. Cutting six squares for the side holes and removing them after it's fully colonized and starting to knot.
I think you're confusing me with Mr.Hyde, Lenz.

That’s rough man.
I basically slept for two weeks and then wasn’t right for a couple months. The first prob 5 weeks even something like picking laundry off the floor would have my lungs burning like I’d been sprinting.

Growing well. Greenhouses are adjustable steel shelves wrapped in painter's plastic. All the humidity comes from evaporation off the substrates. The shelves are spaced very close together and every shelf gets filled completely full.

That is a clever use of bags MrHyde. What substrate are you using? I imagine second flushes are a lot on the bottoms. Looks sick!

Just coir. I don't get many bottom pins. When open the bags I slice the two short and one long edges. This leaves a flap. You can see it folded up between each sub. After harvest I flip the flap back over the top.

Here's my post about making the bags.
Quote:
Mr.Hyde said: Thanks man. No tubs though. The substrates are in polytubing. Like you'd use for oyster logs. The greenhouse is adjustable steel shelves and painters plastic.
I cut the tubing to fit the shelves. Once they're filled and sealed, I flatten it out and perforate the whole top surface (with a tool like this). The perforated plastic provides a good microclimate for pin development. Once the pinset is in I cut the top open and put them in a greenhouse.

I see, very cool work!
I used to use poly tubing pouches just like that to steam pasteurize in a barrel.

I did the same. Was mid pandemic and in pretty sure I found the last one available. Was 160.00. Found it at a mom and pop hardware store and it looked like it had been sitting there for years.
