Im also pondering a humidity tent setup for bags on racks. Gotta pause my expenditures for a moment. Jst got all my basic lab shit in, minus qt masons damnit. Them are coming fucking snail post.
Im thnking morels wud be fine in a tub.

I had some questionable wheat spawn. Looked a little thick and milkshaky. But I tubbed it anyway. After 8 days, the coir top layer started to green tam out.
Can the bad spawn infect the coir out ahead of the mycelia, fucking up the uncolonized coir?

That had to have a horrid smell. Been there before though.

But you know what I'm asking.... it at first looks like the coir is somehow bad.... but I doubt that is the case.

I believe so. I've had a couple where the top layer didn't colonize in the least bit but just ended up going green.

Meh, i dnt wanna morel cake i wanna morel tub.
Im telling ya me swabbies, you spawn some bum's cheese-dick nutsack bacteria and that shit will take the fuck over. Ive spawned everything. Ive washed out jars with solid cylinders of colonized grain covered with jizzy pus slime b4 breaking it up and spawning to a shoebox. Grew a LOTTA nutsack cheese. Funny thing about nutsack cheese...not much one can do with it.

I think kings are the only ones that do ok in normal tubs.
I figured black pearl would do ok since they’re half king but they just got weird and massive. Doesn’t even look like the same species as the ones I did in a bag.

Actually chestnuts would prob do great. They’re more cube like and loved the pasty tub.

when in doubt, use pda or lme. they are pretty universal. theres a morel cultivation thread in the gourmet forum, maybe crosspost it there.

I'm packing up all my grains and agars etc for the next few days while I'm moving. .... yeah I could do more transfers or something in these last few days but I'd rather get EVERYTHING packed, tidy up then start up again asap. I have hybrid shoebox going(kinda secret project) fruits potent! And they look cool I'm excited for them!!

I have read that dry bubble (vert) can cause fruits to grow like that. Along with the figure 8 shape cross sectioned stem with excessive hollowness. Depending on the severity and when it was exposed it can cause different troubles.

I've seen fruits growing like that many times and I believe it's a stress response, too wet too bacterial etc

Thanks for the correction. Weird since they always grow opposite to gravity

Makes sense because I only get these during the 1st flush after I have watered the casing excessively. For this particular tub I also cased a bit late since knots had already formed.
