Not once, field capacity coir and 1 Qt bacterial spawn with a 1/4 inch coir top layer. I knew the spawn wasn't great thanks to the thread in my signature. Not sure how much is due to that though.

mr. mushie,
ive had this happen to me before. my mini fridge is really inconsistent w temps & sometimes shit will start to freeze a bit. idk how frozen yours were, but i've definitely had fruits that got frozen firm/were a bit icy but the whole bag wasn't frozen solid by any means. i just dehydrated them like normal & didn't run into ay issues. unless they are completely frozen you might be fine

Get a mini-fridge without a freezer compartment for more stable temperatures.

They weren't frozen solid.
Dehydrator cycle is nearing the end and they look fine, just a little discolored is all.
Quirk- please post your findings if you settle on a fridge.

Are AA’s the only reasonable option for benchtop electric sterilizers? Can’t seem to find much in the way of big ass (41qt) electric autoclaves . Anyone ever had any luck with Chinese suppliers?

About a week or so ago I decided to make a few lc's using MEA. I used 1 gram per 200 ml of water for two jars and .5 grams per 200 ml of water for another two jars. I used them to noc up 20 qts of grain 2 days ago. I have seen good recovery in less than 24 hours and really good growth in under 48. I'll post some pics a little later when I get home this morning. Anyone else try something like this?
It seems the difference between a regular LC and a thicker MEA LC is that the culture stays suspended in the media rather than sit at the bottom which helps the mycelium colonize the media faster. Also, I only had to spin the LC on the stir plate once after inoculation.

I know what I'm making tomorrow night. I've only done the regular LC and BRF slurries. The BRF slurry though, fast as fuck.

I tried adding agar to it but didn't like the cloudiness. I'm a noob and rely on the clear broth to see how it's coming along though

How many dikaryon are in a mushroom and responsible for spores? 1 dikaryon isn't producing these billions of spores, right? Because if that was the case wouldn't it be an isolate straight from the get go when you cloned it? Also what other mycelium and strains could be in it? Do the hyphae have to go through plasmogamy in order to be a part of the primordial formation or can the fungus use other mycelium to help build its structure?

Yeah there’s a thread about it called semi solid lc or something similar. Definitely works great once you get the mix right.

Z strain Vs B+ ?? anyone got notes on contrasts? I think the Bs taste better but Z seems to run faster and have higher potency. Im considering putting my B+ stuff into long-term storage and focusing on the Z strains

I like it but haven’t been making much Lc lately. It’s definitely cloudier than regular broth so confidence in your sterile technique and clean culture is a plus

The reasons you list were my exact thinking when I made sslc.
It sticks to the grains and you can add a lot to a jar without worrying too much about overly wet grains, too.

I'm gonna give that a try. I seemingly succeeded with my latest attempts with LC, so far. Got some immaculate plates that need to feed.
