Oh yeah I forgot about the tall ones. Well I have had plenty of success with those, but I do know they are not ideal. When I think of 1/2 pints I always envision the wide mouths now days. (Ball) Jelly jars work ok as well.

Aside from PF jars, I kinda just starting washing out my salsa jars and peanut butter jars and pickle jars. Any thoughts on the pros or cons on using those guys for grain jars? I don't know why they would work at least for a couple of runs before the lids wear out.

Big picture - it's a jar with a lid

That's generally where my reasoning strategy ends and I jump into action.

Hello everyone!
My fist post here, really hope I'm in the right place.

So, it's my first time growing on winter and I'm really struggling with temperature I think. In the summer I've grown lots of premade kits but my last four were a disaster, since October. In parallel I manage to inoculate spores into oat and like 3 weeks back I did a grain to bulk leaving it in the dark all this time.. now I've putted them to fruit but I'm having doubts with water droplets.. been reading that droplets are a good sign but I think I have too much. Attaching fotos what do you experts think..

I've built a contraption using Arduino to push air into it and also to heat.. sorry about the Fuzzi pic but I'm avoiding opening the lid

Why are you avoiding opening the lid? It makes no sense. If you think never taking the lid off is doing something super beneficial, then you need to start do better and more current research. Also contraptions generally suck, trying to build an automated system is often more trouble than it’s worth.

Hi, thanks for your reply.. not opening the lid cause I'm living on the country side lots of stuff in the air.. so it's not for benefit it's more of precaution. usually I open only after 30min or so of closing the window. The contraption is to raise temperature, research I've done nothing grows bellow 18C. Not my first time like I said, just the first in low temps. 10C now!

Thank you Ted, good to know.

Do you pour in a SAB? I decided to switch over to the pour lids partly because I think some of my contam issues are from pouring from an open vessel. It'd be a lot nicer to not have to worry about being super quick with the pouring to minimize the chance of something getting in and being able to just focus on pouring and dealing with the jar lids.

All that stuff in the air is already in your tub, opening the lid or closing your window isn't going to make that better or worse.

18c isn't terrible, it will grow, just slower. I run at a constant 71 in my fruiting room. I've even bumped it down to 65 when I had to leave for a couple days and needed to slightly push out a harvest. If you have any way of upping the ambient temps around the tub that is the better option. Even a small grow tent with a heat pad on thermostat could work. Just don't try to heat the tub directly. Those grow tents seal up pretty good tho so you'll want to open the vents or bring fresh air in somehow.

Thanks again

Yeah in here tent is not really an option, I'm temporarily in my parents country house. My house is another story, I'm building an aquarium type to stay in my living room.. I'm an IT engineer and consultant. Contraptions, automations is my thing, can't help it. In normal no-covid situation I travel a lot. Will make that beautiful aquarium work.. fully automated! I know many folks try.. who knows maybe I find my way.

So now that I have a good pic.. are these too much droplets, just wondering if I have to dry them out?

The premade kits I buy from netherlands are quite different than this

Can't get moisture content right in bags.. Been triched out every time and I think this is why. Jars are no problem. Grains are so wet after PC.

3qt per bag, 3 hour cycle with 6 bags maxing out a 23qt presto, so have tried to cut boiling down, soak time down same results.

Rye grain.

Another thing people rarely speak of on the forum is as jars and bags cool post PC, there is condensation, and lots of it if you pull them at 0 psi. Judge the wet/dry of your grains after they have cooled down and been shook. Hell, I like the grains to sit post shake to dry even further before judging and noc'ing.

Try letting them sit out for 24 hrs or so before pcing, worked for me. I also stopped using the sleeve because I couldn't open the pc in front of my hood.

Also maybe run an extra bag and don't knock it up. Lastly how long do you speak the grains?

Oh and how long do you vent the pc for before letting it build pressure.
