Hi everyone! I'm doing my second attempt at pf tek (i did the first one last year and it went ok) but there are a couple of things i don't remember: when sterilizing the jars in the pc should i keep the lids on loosely or screwed tight? And also: i'm planning on sterilizing on saturday, letting them cool overnight and inoculate on sunday... Should i just keep the pressure cooker closed all night and open it just minutes before inoculation? Thanks...

I loosen them back a 1/4 turn. I’d keep them in the cooker until ready to inoculate.. tighten as you pull them from the cooker

Cocogro blocks suck up hot water wster and expand immediately. I have had to manually deconstruct these blocks before adding hot water then massaging. I'm not blaming the coir entirely, but I think my subs are wet and the sketchier spawn is showing badly.
Maybe I don't have enough experience to speak on this, but coming from Eco Earth and recently using some terrible Exo Terra bricks, I like the Mothers nature blocks so far.
Canna coir is the talk of the town these days. I'd give it a go if it wasn't so damn expensive.
I might give the loose coir a go next time. There's loads of that at my local hydro store.

Loose coir is nice but i get a way better deal on the 5kg bricks. The bricks I get cost a third less, and I get 1.75 cu feet vs 1.5 cu feet. Less money and more product was something I had a hard time arguing with.

Go with the canna it's worth the extra couple bucks. Ran cultures side by side with eco and canna. Night and day.

Do you order it off the zon mcnugget?
I could see it making sense if I was running a tub or three, but that is not my situation.

Nah I ended up driving out to a hydro shop. Was $15 per 40l package so came out to like $3.75 in coco per tub.

I get the 5kg hydro coir blocks for like $6.75.
That comes out to around 0.90 cents for my 56qt tubs.
I'll try the canna in a few tubs for shits and gigs but when you're in the triple digits, lets just say it would be prohibitively expensive to use exclusively.

I realize everyone has a different situation but I have never sat down and calculated how much each tub costs for dry materials... I buy the 10kg blocks from my hydro store for like 6 bucks... I usually grab 6-10 blocks to last me 3~ months... never been worried about a few bucks

I'm all about consistency and repeatable results. Running with eco earth that was impossible. The bricks varied so widely even in the same package.
I should look into some cheaper brands than canna, there might be a better alternative with less variance than eco.

what the hell do you call this type of work connector again? My Cadco hotplate was arcing and the burner side of this connector fell apart. I need to order a new burner and a new connector to put it back together but I can't remember what this is called to Google it.

Had that same connector go bad on a 160liter Cabela's switch, idk about electrical so I was just duct taping it and bending it so it would work (shittily)
thankfully a shroomerite fixed it with like $2 in materials in about three minutes, saving me $500.

YEah that's why I came here to ask cause I couldn't remember the word SPADE lol.
The male end on the burner like crumbled off because the connector was loose and arching for a long time. and the tabs on the bottom of the burner were bent from years of the loaded AA sitting on top so I figured why not just order a new burner and spade and replace it all.

I love canna coir, it's smoother than an angels labia. I use the blocks though.
